Good experience. Stayed here with our 22' trailer over a long July 4th weekend. Every site was full. This campground is not close to Big Bear. Snakes were active at this time of year. Bring everything you need. No nearby stores except miles down the road, a gas station/store in Angelus Oaks.
Hosts were on the job making the rounds, cleaning and selling firewood, and campground was quiet by 10 pm. Trash dumpsters were filled to overflowing so animals got in each night, and the mess cleaned up every morning by the hosts. Dump station at nearby Barton Flats was $10.

No hookups, but lots of water available. Camp hosts were extra friendly. Sites can be a bit close, so your experience will depend a LOT on your neighbors courtesy.
Geocaches fairly close by. Lots of hiking access.
No swimming water access close. Jenks lake Is fairly close- but no swimming and $5/car even with forest pass or camping stub!

This campground is only 40 minutes up the mountain from our house so it is a nice, quick getaway. I love it up here. The forest, the cool air, and the campground itself is lovely. As with most other NFS campgrounds we have visited, this one has no hook-ups, but does have showers, toilets, and water spigots throughout. The sites are large and contain an asphalt pad, a picnic table and fire ring. There are two loops for walking or bike riding and plenty of trees. While there is no water at the c/g, just down the hwy 5 minutes is the Santa Ana River (more of a creek) for wading and playing and Jenks Lake (a 2 mile hike or quick drive) close by. I don't believe this c/g was touched by the El Dorado Fire last month, but the forest across the hwy I believe was quite affected.

This is really a lovely wooded campground with clean facilities and wonderful camp hosts! Restrooms are clean and tidy. Shower is also on site. Site 24 is a back in with plenty of room for our Itasca Navion IQ 24-V and our 2914 Honda CRV. Table and fire ring are on the wrong side of our RV Awning and living area, but the night sky from the table and fire ring is spectacular. Occasional road noise from Califormia Highway 38 might bother those closer to the road. It hasn’t bothered us. We can highly recommend San Gorgonio Family Campground.

The campground is composed of two loops - Cedar and Shady Oak. Shady Oak is well named because mature Black oaks provide shade to the camp sites. Sites in this loop tend to be close together providing little privacy. On the other hand, camp sites in the Cedar Loop provide a bit more privacy because the sites are a little more widely spaced. Over-story is composed of Black oak, Jeffrey and Ponderosa pines. All the pull throughs are in Cedar Loop. Firewood is available for a fee. Limited groceries are available at Angelus Oak, CA, west of campground on State Rt. 38.
