We arrived around 6pm and there were already a couple other rvs parked here. Within a couple hours there were a couple of semis and probably around 6 other rvs and vans showed up. I saw security come through once but they never bothered anyone. It was fairly quiet and everyone kept to themselves. I’d definitely stay here again if we happen to pass through.
Park in the side near the Orange Leaf, parallel to the curb, if your rig is long.
There are clearly-marked security trailers with cameras and blue lights, throughout the parking lot. I've only ever seen these in the Old Town Colorado Springs location, and was told there, it was due to heroin users in the parking lot and other illegal activities (mostly drug use though). Amarillo, thankfully, is much more red than CoS and doesn't seem to have the same issues. Maybe this is something Walmart is rolling out, but it's only the second location where I've seen them.
Security person said to park near north part of lot away from cart corrals to avoid being asked to move.
Close to a dozen overnighters in late October. Felt safe.
There was good parking space, as we were one of 4 RVs that night that I could see. It was quiet and well lighted. No one bothered us, and we were able to buy some groceries and a few other needed things in the Walmart in the morning. Stayed with a 38ft class A with car dolly in tow. We would stay here again.
I called the number provided and asked about overnight and the employee confirmed with manager. They have suspended overnights due to COVID-19.
I didn’t stay I made my way over to Amarillo Travel information Center.
Checked with store management. They said no problem staying overnight. I parked in the corner near the Chick-fil-a. Only one other rv. There is a sign that says no truck parking. So no semis were there. Super quiet. I felt very safe.
Well lite and not much traffic - only a few campers beside us. We’d stay again.
Overall okay, Walmart staff friendly and parking lot. A little loud because cars going through the parking lot to get to the Raising Canes. Chick-fil-A And Panda Express close @9. The Walmart Has A BuildaBear Inside. A lot of RV supplies inside the Walmart.
