Just in for a quick overnight. Easy. Nice site across from town park where there was a revival going on and two hot air balloons getting filled. Fun. Average facilities. Just fine for a nights stopover. Washing machines etc.

...that being said 3 ain't bad. It's just absolute average. Exactly what this place is.

Let's review some of what the very friendly manager told me while checking in.

"Hello?" I was already set up as she wasn't due to arrive until 4pm. My dog started barking as she approached the Airstream's door.

"What breed is it?" She asked as I told our dog to be quiet and lay down. Poor dog hasn't stood up in two years. Anyway, I told her she was a chocolate lab.

"Not a pitbull, right?" I had already answered so we moved on.

"You go first," she lead me to the office, a permanent trailer in spot 6, "I'm smoking."

I smoke too, so don't care, but found that funny. Entering a building first somehow prevents you from getting second hand smoke.

We discussed niceties, and she was very, very nice.

"So your plates are from Texas, your license from Pennsylvania, but you've got an Oregon address on your credit card?"

"Yep, I'm complicated," I think any chance at marriage was off right then and there. Luckily, I'm already engaged.

"Here are the rules," she charged me $30. A damn good rate is say, exactly what I hope for at a private park with full hookups in a cute town but otherwise unremarkable area.

"Dogs on a leash, pick up after them, that sort of thing. Do you want a bathroom key? If you want a bathroom key, I'll tell you there are about 20 other hunters," all of which I guess were unable to read the 5mph speed limit signs. I told her only the ladies would be using it. "Oh well we keep the women's room very clean. And the water is hot. But it's women only. And girls."

Clarification is always nice.

"Just one night?" She asked. "I think so," I replied. That's how conversations work, after all.

"Good 'cause we're booked all week," there are only 5 overnight spots. The rest are permanent residences who keep their sites very clean, and some mobile homes that may or may not be part of the official park.

"You got the wifi password. And it is fast," which it wasn't, but it was good enough. "There's no AT&T service here at all," which there was, "but Verizon, T-mobile and U.S. Cellular work great." Verizon was good enough to stream video. She began to go on a bit long about US Cellular and how great it works in San Francisco. I stood up and inched toward the door. She followed me back to the site.

"Make sure your van isn't on the grass, no loud noise after 10pm and don't leave out any bait." I figured she meant for raccoons or something.

"We haven't had many thefts but someone did steal a bike a year ago. The police recovered it in an hour, but they told us to tell you not to leave your wallet out. Lock up your bikes." You know, no bait.

The kids and the ladies went over to a playground a block or so away. A city park across the street was a perfect dog walking area. Our spot had a small grass patch and a tree. Water pressure could knock the cap off a beer bottle.

I ventured into town to find some sundries. A hotel boasting a coffee shop and bar (which wasn't open at 3pm, if at all) seemed to be the mainstay of Main Street, and a Mexican restaurant and a bunch of galleries convinced me that this town could be cute enough to explore a bit more than we did.

Did I mention how nice the RV park manager was? I made sure to lock up our bikes and take our chairs into the house. As an experiment though, I left a half pack of cigarettes out. No vagrants visited our spot that night, at least none that smoke.

Our 2019 F350’s GPS had us turning left the road after it should have. That road dead ends. Didn’t make that mistake, but did have to go a couple miles down the road to find a place to safely turn around our 35’ fiver. Our typical park is of the likes of Durango in Red Bluff or Seven Feathers in Oregon. Sully’s is not that. But neither is it’s price! It does offer what we needed. A level site with FHU’s. This is an older facility. The water spigot was too close to the ground to accommodate my pressure gauge & filter, so we used our fresh water tank. Similarly the 50 amp receptacle was so close to the ground that my surge protector was at an uncomfortable angle. The black/grey water dump was unthreaded, which required my wife to use her foot to hold it in place. There was absolutely no road or train noise. This isn’t Jackson Rancheria, but it worked for our 2 day visit.

Quiet location next to the fairgrounds, small park with lots of full timers but neat and seemed safe. Restrooms run down but reasonably clean. Host was a nice guy

We stayed here while on a tour of highway 395. It was very clean and quiet. The manager was nice and helpful. It appears the park has quite a few long term renters. There is nice grass between each space. For some reason, as another reviewer said, Google maps wants you to go the wrong way off 395. This is south of town. Turn East off 395. There is a park just across the street to walk your dogs. We saw deer grazing in the park. You can also walk south to the rail road tracks. It’s easy in and out access.

This is a perfect spot to plant yourself after a 200-mile drive up the 395 from Carson City if you are traveling that way. They have 4 or 5 pull-throughs that are easy in and out for an overnight stay.

As mentioned before there are a number of full-time residential sites here. Other than a little older, they are decent and those I passed were friendly including the staff here.

The park itself was in good repair for the '60s built facility, with beautiful, huge trees for shade and well-kept grass between the paved sites for the 35 sites here. I didn't use the restroom or the showers, but the laundry room had two washers and two dryers. All but one looked new and very clean.

Not much to do in town. There is a small museum and a few restaurants, but many places still seemed to be closed from the COVID lockdown.

There is easy access to the overnight sites, right off the road. We were able to fit our 29 ft. motorhome and tow in one space. We were in space 4.

The manager was very pleasant and loves dogs, however, we were instructed to take the dogs across the street to the park to do their "business ". The bathrooms and laundry were clean and nice.

The spaces have picnic tables and grass between them, so, lots of space for slide outs. This was more spacious than a lot of modern parks.

We weren't sure what to expect but we loved it on first sight and the trees aren't even in leaf yet. Host was on the spot and put us in #1 which is nice. And yes there are full timers here but it was clean and felt safe. Pretty area. Right close to wildlife area. We saw over 6 Red tailed Hawks. There is a railroad track right next to it but we didn't hear a single train. Very pleasant. Would definitely stay here again.

We were heading through the area when we ran into a huge storm and decided we needed to find a place to stop for the night. Not many options in Alturas for RV parks, however, Sully's had the best ratings, so, we called to see if they had availability. We spoke to the on-site manager (Karen) and she said she did have availability for us and gave us directions on where to pull in when we were to arrive. Upon arrival, we noticed the cones to the pull through site were already set aside for us to enter. After pulling in (while it was still raining) Karen immediately greeted us and asked if the site was ok for us. It was and we were able to set up fairly quickly to get out of the rain. After the storm passed, Karen came back out to make sure all was well, which it was. There were several other instances when we needed assistance such as getting change for laundry and a few other random questions and Karen was always very helpful. The site itself was well cared for (paved with grass patio and picnic table). The laundry room had 2 washers and 2 dryers that were only $1 & $1.25 respectively. (The dryer closest to the door took extra long to dry and had to run it twice) All in all, we were very happy and would highly recommend. Special thanks to Karen for making this a great stay!
