I’d recommend this as a last option before boondocking, which is tough near here, but it’s not bad! To be fair, it’s the worst USFS property in the area by far. But it has its place!
There are at least 4 sites you can get a 25-30’ into. Probably nothing bigger. But ask the host! Maybe there is one. Two or three are easy. My 20’ would fit 8-10 of the sites. None are awesome, all are fine. Hiking at the back of the campground is excellent and so much is so close. Laundry, overpriced shopping, and showers are just across the road.
The host in 2021 (Tom) was amazing. The portapotties were immaculate and he had answers to every question. Super friendly and caring.
Water isn’t available on site, but an amazing natural spring is a few minutes away and free. Google Crystal Springs in Allenspark. https://goo.gl/maps/LJAV32jgwon891gM8
Cheapest place in the area by far! And only a few minutes to Estes Park. Also right by RMNP entrance.
If you can get into the back of the campground there are nice quiet sites. Others are right off the highway but it’s quiet at night.
Olive Ridge is way nicer, a few miles away, but if you can’t get it, go here!

Solo female traveler that definitely does NOT have 4-wheel drive… fee with park pass sites $7. Lots of sites open on a Monday night. No Verizon. Portapotties. It’s about 17min from Estes Park where I’ll be heading on weekdays to work. So I’d say for the price it’s in excellent proximity to RMNP and cell service. It’s right off a main road, so like others have said the further in you go the quieter. But I’m pretty sensitive to noise and I thought it was pretty quiet even at my site which is near the front.
