Confirmed by 4 users | Last reported on September 25, 2022This is a nice Forest Service campground close to Rocky Mountain NP. Some larger sites can accommodate bigger RVs so check recreation.gov for more info. Walk up sites available so we came earlier in the week and scored on a 4th of July.
Nice campground with close proximity to RMNP.
Half of the campground is reservable and half is first come. Nicely wooded.

We booked 39 which is a double spot but made backing the 32 footer in nice and easy. The loop is tight and can be tough to negotiate so I'd suggest getting here during daylight hours.
Toilets (vault) were fairly clean but stinky because they get sun first light in the morning. There is no power (we had a generator) and we didn't see anywhere to fill water so glad we came full.
We had plenty of space in our area and were away from others but you hardly notice folks unless it's night and you can see fires in the distance. We walked to RMNP along the frontage road.
I have Verizon and had zero connectivity (which was awesome) so be prepared for lack of connectivity.
We were right off the lower road and others said they heard cars but I really didn't notice it.
We were here June 1st-June 3rd.
I will come back for sure.

We selected #39, it was a double site because of the size of our travel trailer. The space around all of the sites are large and comfortable. The challenge comes in with the trees and large rocks close to the road that makes backing your RV in a sporting event! Site #39 is a double site @ $35.00 and the average site is $17.00 per night. There is no Senior Pass discount on the double sites.....bummer! We would certainly camp here again.

Stayed here 6/8-10/2020. Vault toilets open, cleaned, stocked. No water available. We were there during a cold snap off-weekend, so it was pretty quiet. The view from the spot was just so-so, but the location was nice for taking a trip into Estes Park. The campground is very close to the highway, but there was no highway noise. No cell service, but we were able to drive about 7 miles to Lake Lily where there was a signal (Verizon). We were able to have campfires within the ring, but check for current status. Firewood was available from the host for cash sale, but we were able to get some in Estes Park, as well. We drove crossover SUVs with no problem. Very low clearance coupes/sports cars might have some difficulty, but any average clearance vehicle should be fine. There were some small and medium campers in the campground, but I didn’t notice any long 5th wheel/Class As. Some of the corners might be a little tight for some of the bigger rigs, but definitely check other reviewers who have better info (we tent camped, so I didn’t pay very close attention). Tent pads were gravel—be sure you have sleeping pads/air mattresses.

Towed our travel trailer here to visit Rocky Mountain National Park. No water or electricity. We stopped at Crystal Springs in Allenspark for water. Great for filling jugs, no hookup to fill camper directly. Amazing mountain spring drinking water for donation only. Our kids loved the various large rocks to play & climb on. We were excited to see moose walk through our campground as well. There was a fire ban so we did not utilize their rings. Nice looking tent pads and bear lockers. No cell signal at campground. Very close to Wild Basin trail head area and Lily Lake. Loved this area and campground.

This is a great campground with mostly well spaced out sites. With the tree and brush growth at our site, you could not really tell that there were other sites near us. this is typical off the "Dipper loop", but not as much in the other loops No water or electricity, but we're tent folk anyway, so that was far from a show stopper. Great starting point for all the local fishing, hiking etc, and reasonably close to the national park. If quiet is more your thing, because of its location, the park was super quiet during the day with everyone off on their own adventures nearby. Staff was not seen much, but we were there when it was fairly empty, and mid week. 2 small stores nearby that don't carry too much, but certainly enough to get you by, or fill in something you forgot. If we are back in that general area again, we will definitely use this campground again.

We wanted to explore the Rocky Mountain National Park. What a phenomenal place! On day one, our goal was to hike the lower part of the Rocky Mountain National Park called the Wild Basin. Do NOT skip the Wild Basin because the hikes are first rate. Due to the Covid pandemic, we were forced to purchase admission tickets in advance. Do not go to the Rocky Mountain National Park unless you have these tickets or they will not let you enter until after 5. We chose a campground about a mile outside the entrance to the Wild Basin called Olive Ridge Campground ⛺️ within the Roosevelt National Forest 🌳. There are 56 sites that will accommodate tents, campers, trailers, and RVs and most of the sites have full to partial shade and outstanding tree emersion. Picnic tables, fire grates, and vault toilets that are kept clean, and trash services are provided. 14-day stay limit. There is no hook-ups, dump stations, or showers. We had no cellphone 📱 serve at this location. All campsites with a tent pad have a bear locker.
We have just finished over 12,000 miles camping across the USA. The Campendium App was a necessity in our journey across the country. We want to repay the favor and leave reviews which we hope aid in your choices of campsites. Our stay was a throwback to older times. The site is enormous. Backing in involves paying attention to a pair of Doug fir and then woo hoo, life is good. Enormous means, acres. Pine needles make a carpet, along with crunchy pine cones. We had our own boulders, two meadows, dozens of trees. Swinging in n the hammock was the best! Lay back, watch the birds and clouds.
We did not realize we were not actually camping in the national park until we got there. There is no cell service and that created a problem for getting passes into the park. Be sure to make your park reservations when you reserve your campsite. We did get in, by making a call the next day from Estes Park. It would have been much better to have had two full days in the park. But as it was, we enjoyed the camp site lots. Deeply relaxing. All nice people.

I stayed here for five nights in August. This campground is lovely. Sites are nice and spacious with shade, food locker, table, fire ring, and tent pad. The tent pad was pretty hard but I was able to get my tent stakes in with some finesse. No water but there is a wonderful free water spring nearby in Allenspark. Close enough to RMNP and Estes Park that I was able to conveniently drive there each morning to hike. There’s a lodge a couple miles up the road with $5 showers and laundry if needed.
