We pulled into a non-reservable site on a Wednesday (mid May) and had the campground to ourselves until Friday. Site number 5 can support two to three RV trailers plus a couple of tents, but it isn't very level.
The dirt road into the campground from Kortes Road can be very rough but doesn't require four wheel drive or high clearance vehicles. However, if it rains be aware that the dirt road will be very slick. I did have to use four wheel drive to get up the road in a unloaded pickup truck. Don't take the first two turnoffs as those lead to the boat ramp and parking area.
Sites are well spaced out. There is no shade except in the picnic shelter.
The fishing was very good from shore and even better from a rowboat.
The vault toilet had to have been the absolute cleanest non-flush toilet I've ever seen.
There is no water at the campground. The closest water is at private campground/trailer park down the road from Sloane's store for $.10 per gallon. Supposedly there is a public water spigot at Westside Campground but haven't verified that.

We stayed here as a stopover between Salt Lake City and South Dakota in early June, and it worked out perfectly in that respect. These are nice waterside campsites with a picnic table on a covered concrete pad for the only shade around, and a fire ring. The red sandstone cliffs surrounding the lake are very scenic. Campsites were very clean, didn't check out the pit toilets. No water available -- bring your own.
There's a rough spot or two on the graded dirt road leading to the campground, but nothing that should give anyone much pause. There are two boat ramps on site.
The dogs loved swimming in the lake and chasing some geese that were swimming next to them. There were only a handful of other campers in the campground, and we had a peaceful night's sleep before hitting the road again in the morning.
