“featuring the worlds largest pistachio nut!”
There are plenty of large, man-made oddities that people can find throughout the world. There's the world's largest baked potato in Blackfoot, Idaho, the world's biggest buffalo in Jamestown, N.D., a larger-than-life hockey stick and puck in Duncan, British Columbia, and a mammoth lobster in Shediac, New Brunswick. Now you can add the world's largest pistachio in Otero County to the list. Travelers along U.S. 54 between Alamogordo and Tularosa have seen it since late last year at McGinn's Pistachio Tree Ranch. Tim McGinn, owner of the pistachio ranch, said he wanted to honor the memory of his father, Tom McGinn, who originally founded the pistachio and grape-producing farm.
There is not much to do in this area. So why not stop at this spot! This is a cute rest stop. They sell shirts and nick-knacks and patty whacks covered in glitter and of course lots of NUTS! Every flavor you could imagine. Very cute spot. Family friendly. There are actually two separate farms you can drive to. All by the same owners I think just two different locations 15 min away from each other. The trees/farm outside was pretty cool too. I attached 5 pics! Enjoy!
Wow, the flavors you can put on a Pistachio.. This is just a neat stop.. I didn't realize pistachio's grew on trees!!
What can i say...it's a pretty big nut. Did a little bit of shopping too, good rest spot.
Nice little stop. The store is full of over priced tourist stuff but the tour was great and every employee was kind and helpful . The ice cream is blue bell and you can’t beat that. There was a pressed penny machine at the back of the store. Stop and stretch your legs here.
Store was super cute - and smelled AMAZING (like pistachio brittle!). Ice cream was yummy, lots of variety, got some local wine and everyone as very friendly.
Cute place to stop and great place to take a picture :)
Great place to stop! Wine tasting, ice cream samples & amazing pistachio samples!! We had a sick kid & the customer service was above and beyond. You have to stop here!
Fun place for a quick stop! Lots of free samples. Kids had a great time browsing through all the different items. Would recommend you stop!
A neat little surprise along the road. The staff was wonderful and engaging, the store was very nice with a nut bar of free samples of their pistachios. The ice cream was excellent and highly recommend.
Classic photo op spot.
