Confirmed by 2 users | Last reported on June 30, 2023My buddy and I stayed one night here and it was very accommodating I must say! The workers were super nice and chill, and the tent site was quality. It even had a very pleasant tree for shade. Also, the showers were clean and nice. 5 out of 5.
Place was definitely a spot i would stay in again. Not necessary a long term type of place however, the amount of activities could prove me wrong.

Stayed here mid-Feb 2024.
Pull-through FHU 50 amp. All gravel. Site #E6
General: Nice store and grounds. Easy access. Well-maintained with updated facilities.
Staff: Staff is great! Owners are caring and polite.
Sites: Spacious gravel sites with some privacy from fences. Large rock gravel.
Campground Road: Gravel road.
Campground WiFi: Could not always connect to campground WiFi
Grounds: Clean and maintained really well.
Bathrooms/Showers: Women's showers were really nice—newly renovated! Private locked rooms. The men's showers were old and a bit smelly/dirty. Stall-style showers with a locking door to the stall.
Laundry: Really nice newly renovated facility and the machines worked very well. Dried and washed well.
Location: Gas, groceries, and restaurants all within 5-10 min. 20 min from White Sands NP.
Near highway: No. You do turn off of the main road (route, not an interstate) and go back a few blocks so minimal road noise.
Near train: Yes. Train is close but not immediately connected to the KOA.
Cell using booster: AT&T (2 of 4 bars —4G) and Verizon (3 of 4 bars sometimes 4 bars—4G) worked well enough. Worked on VPN just fine and have Zoom meetings. Small moments of lag when using AT&T. Could stream as well on both networks.

I really liked this park with its nice sites and very friendly staff. I stayed here 4 nights and it was the perfect setup after 14 days of dry camping. This KOA is set toward the north end of town and is fairly quiet. There is some traffic noise and trains travel though town several time per day. The train tracks are far enough away where noise is not to bothersome.
The sites are nicely laid out with concrete breeze block privacy wall around two sides of the large concrete picnic table. There there was also a charcoal grill in my site. All of the sites have trees and a coach light that you can turn on and off yourself. Everything here is kept very clean
I would definitely stay here again if coming to Alamogordo.

We arrived mid afternoon at this KOA and they had a few sites available. The first night we stayed in site #30. 50 AMP service along with water and sewer. The first nights cost was $39. At site #30, there was a decent amount of room between sites and because they were staggered it felt a bit larger.
Nice little touches, a patio light that you could turn on or off. Picnic table, BBQ. You could rent a fire pit for $5 if you desired. They had a 24 hour laundromat, showers and restrooms. A nice gift shop, rec room, library, movies, even a coffee nook where they served fresh coffee and tea in the mornings (for free).
We decided to stay a second night. Unfortunately the site we were on was reserved, but they did have one of their 'new in 2018' enhanced sites available. In 2018 they opened 7 new enhanced sites: they are wider and longer, privacy fence between sites (with a patio light that you could turn on/off), cable, 50 amp service, water, fire pit, and a few even had a propane BBQ and patio deck. Most of the new enhanced sites had sewer, but a few did not. The cost was a bit more ($44 per night), but it was worth every penny.
There is a playground for the kiddies, horseshoes and a decent size dog park. The also had a propane station for both tanks and MHs, a dumpster and a dump station.
The only downside, because it is located in a large city, there are traffic and train noises.
One final comment, the staff ARE AMAZING. You can tell they LOVE their jobs. They go out of their way to make your stay as pleasurable as possible.
Highly recommend Alamogordo/White Sands New Mexico KOA!

Stayed just one night while passing through. Easy access and pleasant staff. Led us to our spot and offered to assist with set up. Gave us several options for sites and didn’t push the premium site (which are very nice and would be great for a longer stay. WiFi easily accessible with good signal. Dog park while not huge was more than adequate. Everything was clean. Definitely would stay again.

Easy check-in and friendly staff. They will loan you sleds to take to White Sands, which was great. There is an older section (most of the park) and a newer section. The older section has 9 50 amp sites, and the newer section has 7 sites and all are 50 amp. The new sites have lots of space and nice wooden dividers between sites – we would have requested one of these had we known. We were in the older section. Sites are close but not right on top of each other. There is a concrete table and small concrete divider with a small tree. We were on the end so only grass on the driver side. Our site was pretty level, and they all looked pretty level. The WII FI worked well or not at all. Directv worked fine. Cable TV was fuzzy but could be a bad connection on our part. Verizon had decent coverage. Sites and roads are gravel and dirt. Nice view of the mountains if you overlook the tops of RVs and fences :) Convenient location to White Sands and other areas to visit. Don’t expect a peaceful night’s sleep! The trains … OMG the trains. They literally sound like they are coming thru the park. And there are a ton of them. There are also a lot of souped up cars driving around in the middle of the night and dogs barking from nearby neighborhoods. Most likely will not return due to the excessive noise.

This camp ground really tries to maintain the same standards as other KOAs but it seems to be on the downward slide. From afar it seems to be a standard KOA, however, once you start your stay you recognize some issues.
The cons:
The campground is surrounded by either run down trailer homes or businesses. A train track is just down the street and is very active. Last night it seemed a train was blowing its horn every 45 minutes as it sped by. Some of their long term residents keep their site as if they are trying to blend in with the run down neighbors.
The pros:
The majority of the staff is very friendly. The campground itself seems to be maintained fairly well. The location in centrally located within the city.
In general, I don’t fault the campground for their surroundings but i wish others would have discussed some of this place’s drawbacks before made the decision to spent almost 40/night.

We stayed at the Alamogordo KOA for a couple of nights in order to visit the White Sands National Park (which is amazing). The park itself is quite dated however it is maintained impeccably. The staff at the front desk couldn’t have been nicer and the maintenance staff were always waving hello when you walked or drove by. The RV park is right in the middle of town (literally), so it’s easy to get groceries or fuel. The only reason I’m not giving a five star review is because some of the largest spaces, including the one we were in, didn’t have a sewer hookup, while others did. It’s not a huge deal breaker but is really convenient as most other parks provide them in the large sites that can support 65’ RV/toad rigs.

I am a pretty easy going camper so I just want to hook up and relax after a day of driving and hiking. The campground was pleasant but had one major drawback - approximately five trains came through between 9 pm and 5 am' blowing their whistles or horns for about a minute or two each time. I think this would have been a problem at any other RV park in town but it definately woke this sound sleeper. The campgrounds were clean and people were pleasant. Did not use facilities. Cell and wifi was good. Included cable.
