Confirmed by 2 users | Last reported on November 15, 2022We were lucky to get a last minute site due to a nearby fire. It has full hookups but the spots are so tight there are only a few inches between slides. Many long term campers here, many with no windows, trash all around & lots of dogs hanging around on chains. There is a small restaurant on site.

Nothing fancy but a great deal with full hookups. Beautiful views. Staff friendly. And a wonderful little cafe with home cooking right on site. Perfect for a one night stay, especially at half price compared to other parks. So easy to get to right off the highway.
I found the whole park and area to be clean and picked up. Yes, it’s old and the sites are close together but like I said, so worth it!

We were looking for a place to stay by Trinidad, and we saw it over the highway. Turn around and had the best time ever! Kid friendly, family oriented place.
The best part of it is the Cafe. We ate breakfast and lunch in! Food was delicious! And the staff makes it feel like home! Don’t miss this spot!

GEARS was a really nice place to stay. When we first drove by we were extremely worried about the road noise since it is so close to the highway. Once we got parked and everything hooked up it was surprisingly quiet. We did eat dinner the first night in the cafe which was really tasty with quite a few items to choose from. The staff is very friendly. This is a mix of people who live here permanently and others that are just passing through. It was clean, quiet and overall a great place to stay. There is room to let your dogs run if you have bigger dogs at the end of the park closest to the automotive business. We have German Shepherds so it was nice to have a place to let them go off leash to run and play.
Please note there are no shower or laundry facilities at this location. Linda's Laundry in Trinidad, Colorado has a drop off service or you can do your own.

We stopped here because the weather was getting bad. They were very accommodating letting us pay over phone since we pulled in late and left early. The weather was crazy because of the wind and we were thankful for the hookups.

On the way home to Texas we ended here for the nite. Just off I-25, low road noise, easy checkout in the AM since we called ahead and said we would be getting there after hours. Had 30/50 amp, sewer, and water. It worked for us for a great place to sleep.
Only negative, it snowed a few days before we got there and it warmed up above freezing and the road and site was very muddy.

Stayed here one night on way north. Small campground of about 20 FHU sites. Many permanent campers. But quiet and clean. Super friendly staff. Great little cafe. Had home cooked dinner. Would stay again. Cold at night here so better than boondocking

Campground was full on a Monday night. They accommodated us with a free boondocking spot. One or two trains but not bothersome. Easy on/off I-25. Barbecue from their restaurant was excellent! Overall positive experience for a way stop.

One-nighter heading towards southern NM. Small, no-frills park with some longer-term residents. Next to the I-25 interstate. Check in at cafe. Friendly lady appears to run the cafe and check ins. Pull through sites, full hookups 30/50, level sites. Appears tight parking but there's plenty of space outside your door for add'l parking between sites. Not much greenery and a bit dusty but it's reasonable with views of mountains. Interstate sounds are prevalent but think of it as white noise, not bad. Woke up a few times to the wind, keep your awnings in. Definitely try the cafe and BBQ...serves until 6PM. Had the brisket...yum! Would definitely return.

Making a bee line South and Aguilar was in line with time to stop for the evening with overnight temps forcast in the teens. Called ahead to make sure they were open and had sites available. Gentleman on phone was very nice and said plenty of space available with Electric and a few pull through open as well.
Arrived late afternoon, checked in at Cafe. Woman was also very friendly and gave us a copy of Menu. Cafe open 7 am to 6 pm. Nice to not have to cook for the evening or unhook car and drive.
If you need a safe, quiet place to stop for the evening, this is it. Their Green Chili is wonderful!
