What a pleasant off the road surprise. I went to college in Abilene but only recently visited this historical fort. A little hiking (very little) if you want to see all of it. But it is amazing. Public restrooms a plus.
We visited at the end of May and every wildflower in the park was in bloom. It was utterly spectacular to see the flowers among the ruins of the fort.
Nice place to stretch your legs. Short little walk around. Some parts of the path are rocky. Maps provided with information. Restrooms there as well.
