The Old Talbott Inn for a late lunch will be our first stop. This historic Tavern was built in 1779 using Flemish stonework, rarely seen in America. The Inn was a haven of hospitality to those sturdy pioneers who carved an empire out of the threatening wilderness. It's location, at an important crossroad, is where every stagecoach passed on its journey either West or East, stopping at the Tavern's front door.

Midway, KY Museum
101 East Main Street Midway, KY 40347 (859) 403-2042 Midway, KY was a town surveyed and laid out by the Lexington and Ohio Railroad with many of the streets and avenues named after the railroad company directors. The town grew up along Railroad Street where lodging and saloons were built for the men working on the line. Midway, also called Middleway, sat half-way between Lexington and Frankfort and saw its first steam locomotive in 1835 as it rumbled through on its way to Frankfort. In the town's heyday, over 30 trains a day would pass through the middle of town. Time has a way of changing things, and the last passenger train passed through Midway in May, 1971. Today, visitors see only a caboose where the old depot once stood but Midway is surviving and doing well. The town has been "revitalized" and welcomes visitors who come to enjoy the eateries and the delightful shops lining Main Street. With 176 buildings listed on the National Register of Historic Places, there is something for everyone.
