Everyone should have a chance to see this beautiful country. So when me and my three best friends decided to go to the grand canyon as a huge trip before we all left for college. This route is amazing for those who don't mind driving for an extended time. But the time you save driving is then used at amazing locations.
This museum was amazing and is worth the entry price. To be able to visit where John F Kennedy was assassinated is a humbling experience and is difficult to describe in words. This historic monument is interesting and will teach you about the life of our previous president.
We went up the Reunion Tower it was probably one of the most amazing views of the trip. Being able to see Dallas in a 360 degree view is just stunning. I wish I was able to stay until night to see Dallas lighting up the night sky. To get to the top you take an elevator 50 stories up to the lookout platform. Be careful though there are no nets to catch any dropped items such as phones but the area is very secure and if you are lucky enough they shoot off fireworks on certain nights.
Traveling is filled with several unique locations and people. This restaurant was very unique and very small. Once you get past the small looking exterior you will find a wonderful environment and wonderful food. I ordered a burger and it was one of he best burgers i have ever had. I travel tip that I wish I knew before I went here was that they only accept cash as payment. You can enjoy a wonderful meal here and then watch the beautiful sunset over famous route 66.
Route 66 has several crazy and different attractions to keep you busy on your road trip across America. This attraction in my mind is one of the most iconic things to see on route 66. Its open 24 hours a day 7 days a week and is completely free. These cars are so amazing because the paint is constantly being changed due to the fact that when you go there you can spray paint your name or anything you want on these cars to leave your mark. It is a beautiful spot and a must see.
Even though it is small and hidden off the main highway this is a great spot to see. Here you are exactly between Chicago and Las Angeles. If you are hungry there is a diner where you can stop for a meal and a gift shop for those who want to ring home some route 66 memorabilia.
This establishment in flagstaff is a wonderful Italian restaurant and is very close to downtown where you can either walk the streets or just sit in downtown and talk with some locals. Do not be afraid to go out of your comfort zone with its varied pizza dishes they are amazing and extremely delicious.
Its hard to describe how beautiful and awe inspiring the Grand Canyon. Millions and millions years of erosion carved out this natural wonder of the world. I recommend taking one of the various trails down into the canyon where you can see unique wildlife and flora. The bus system that transports you from spot to spot is on time and is reliable. The rangers are full of wonderful information and are stationed along the trial to help those who are having a tough time showing rest stops and in during certain months show where hikers can find water along the trail. This was an amazing experience and you will never forget when you see the canyon for the first time.
A meteor crashed here millions of years ago and you can see the devastation it can cause. This is about an hour out of flagstaff and is well worth the drive because the meteor is deeper then the Eiffel Tower! Plus seeing the vastness of the area around the crater is amazing as the crater itself.
A marvel of engineering and an amazing view the hoover dam is a must see if you are in the area. You only have to say for parking and the water compared to the red soil is a perfect blue. You can walk across the border of Arizona and Utah due to the fact that Arizona does not take part in day light savings time. So make sure to set your watches. The bridge you cross to go to the dam is just as amazing in regards to engineering.
If you are a fan of the TV show visiting this location is a very fun experience. Even though there is usually a line out the door it moves very fast. You even have the chance to meet the stars of the show or catch some filming! Be careful of the heat though waiting in lines outside in Vegas can be an adventure in itself.
Seeing trees which were once alive and organic now turned to stone with beautiful coloration's of red blue and green is in simple words beautiful. The park is amazing and is easy to navigate. There are several amazing spots to visit along the road from the natural wildlife to the stunning view of the Blue Mesa hills.
The ingenuity of humans will near cease to amaze me. Seeing these building built in the side of a cliff with nothing more then simple tools is just mind blowing. This monument is so well reserved that you can still see where the ladders would be to get up to this building. In the visitor center they had a display of the interior of the monument. Even though the park is small it holds so much cultural value to Americans and the people who still live in the land in the area.
When we went to Phoenix to visit family they took us this museum and I loved all of the art pieces. Not only did they have sculptures they had an interactive exhibit where it is a room of just mirrors called the infinity room. This was one of the highlights of the museum because of the simplicity behind the art. If you find yourself in Phoenix I would highly recommend this wonderful museum.
The name of the place really does say it all. This is a very large array. Driving though New Mexico and seeing these out of nowhere is a little weird. It looks out of place but in reality it is the perfect spot. You can take a tour of the buildings and it was an amazing experience. The contrasting white around the bleak landscape is s sight to behold.
This is a small quirky attraction. In the small town of Roswell you can find this unique building filled with its residents. For the alien aficionado this is the mecca of all visits besides area 51. It holds various items and documents that depending on your view will either make you believe or confirm your disbelief. This place means a lot to me because we drove 8 hours to get there and it is well worth the drive.
Once again Route 66 has a colorful and wacky attraction that is a must see. I love Route 66 it is always going to be something new and interesting every time you take this amazing road. The blue whale is placed on a lake that is filled with various species of fish and the trees behind it will lead to a wonderful photo. So when traveling Route 66 make sure to stop by to see this wonderfully unique whale.
Saint Louis is an amazing city and this wonderful structure just adds to the wonder of how we built such a large structure. This is one of the largest metal structure in the United States and it is stunning. You can even take a small elevator to the top of the archway. The elevator was probably one of the best parts because you are going up at an angle! From the top of the arch you can see both the states of Illinois and and Missouri which is beautiful.
This was one of my favorite places when i was in Memphis not only is it extremely accurate model of the Mississippi river it was the scene in the movie known as The Firm. You take off your shoes and you can walk the entire river from Minnesota to the Gulf of Mexico. the water level also rises and falls just like the real river. Here you also get a wonderful view of the great Mississippi river. if you ever find yourself in Memphis you should make it an effort to go here.
Beale Street is as iconic as blues and barbecue. You can go to several stores along the road and also visit several of the unique bars. The night life is amazing and the food around the area is delicious. It can only be accented by several street performers and bands along the street.
This was an amazing experience to be able to drive across the nation from Georgia all the way to Nevada. The destinations I saw I will never forget plus the memories made will be shared between my friends and I. I encourage all to take a road trip because it will open your eyes to new cultures and ways of life. Plus its always fun to push your way out of your comfort zone
