Take a boat tour $15. Climb aboard the charming, historic vessel, Sinopah, the oldest wooden boat in our fleet, and enjoy all this “secret” valley offers. Relax and take in the scenery while learning about the rich Blackfeet tribal history surrounding the Two Medicine area.
Another boat tour option for $27.50. Come see the glaciers in this magical valley from the seats of our two historic wooden boats — Chief Two Guns on Swiftcurrent Lake and Morning Eagle on Lake Josephine. Enjoy both lakes via a small hike linking the two boats in this two-part tour. The tour begins on the shores of Swiftcurrent Lake, below the expansive Many Glacier Hotel. Take the Chief Two Guns across Swiftcurrent Lake, dock, disembark and walk 0.2 mile (over a steep hill) to the shores of Lake Josephine and board the Morning Eagle. Cruise to the head of Lake Josephine where you can either disembark and go on a guided or self-guided hike, or remain on the boat to return back across both lakes to the Many Glacier Hotel.
Running Eagle Falls, East Glacier Park, Montana, United States
Trail Description:
The trailhead for Running Eagle Falls is located 1.1 miles west of the Two Medicine entrance station. Running Eagle Falls, also known as "Trick Falls", flows off the outlet stream between Two Medicine Lake and Lower Two Medicine Lake. The trail to the falls is a wide, well maintained path suitable for everyone in the family. It’s also one of two trails in the park that's handicap accessible. The Trail of the Cedars on the west side of Glacier National Park is the other. Just prior to arriving at the falls you'll cross a footbridge. The platform overlooking the falls is roughly three-tenths of a mile away from this point. There are, however, several places in this vicinity that offer alternative vantage points for viewing these very impressive falls.
St. Mary’s Falls is a fantastic destination for hikers. Rimmed with richly colored red rocks and vibrant moss, this treasure is a recreational high point for hikers within the east side of the park. The upper section of the falls makes a dramatic entrance by tumbling through a narrow slot then terminating against the south wall. Soon after is the main falls which makes a clean leap from its colorful surroundings. Take notice of the color of the water as it swirls downstream. It is a brilliant turquoise green with a hint of blue. This is due to glacial sediments mixing with snow and glacial melt. A little further downstream the river empties into St. Mary’s Lake. There are various tour boat rides on this lake that can extend your hiking and camping experiences. Be sure to check the local schedules for this service. The falls trailhead is just under a mile west of Sunrift Gorge and is located on the south side of the Going-to-the-Sun Road. This is a 0.8 mile hike with an elevation drop of 150 feet. If you have the time and energy, be sure to check out Virginia and Deadwood Falls. They are both within short hiking distances from St Mary’s Falls.
The Card Pioneer Home, built by the leader of the first group of Mormon settlers, is open to the public on Cardston’s main street each afternoon, six days a week in the summer. See what life in a real ‘little house on the prairie’ was like.
