My boyfriend and I, current residents of the great Rochester, NY, have been attempting to plan an epic road trip to Acadia National Park for about half a year now. Two ever-present goals in our minds while planning trips: seeking out the highest point of the states we visit and filling our National Parks passports!. So this is our high pointing, Maine-achieving itinerary!

900 E Ave, Rochester, NY, US

George Eastman House

A unhidden gem of Rochester, George Eastman House combines a mansion tour with Kodak history and creative exhibits. Right now, Eastman is honoring the 100th anniversary of the National Park System with the Photography and America’s National Parks exhibition. A fitting kick off for a journey to one of America's greatest national parks!

The highest point of Vermont and the 26th in the US! While moderately out of the way of this journey, my sister lives in Montpelier and has summited Mansfield many times, making her the perfect sherpa for a high point warm up.

Walden Pond

Another outdoor venue to soothe our car-weary souls. Thoreau would approve.

194 Park Ave, Portland, ME, US

The Holy Donut

While we plan to hit many other attractions in Portland, The Holy Donut tops my list as I consider myself a true donut aficionado.

Mount Katahdin

The big one! While, the 22nd big one! Ranking just after the NY high point, Mount Katahdin is the highest point in Maine.
