Wiste's went to Reedsport, OR for the Oregon Divisional Chainsaw Carving Competition, but made a huge camping adventure out of the trip! We stopped at many state and national parks along the way. Here are some of our favorite places...
This campground was breathtakingly beautiful. You drove in on a hill above the clear, large lake surrounded by tall pine trees. Many of the campsites had waterfront land, and most others had a view of the lake. Campsites were spacious, leaving room between you and your neighbor. Nice fire rings, and great access to hiking, kayaking, swimming, and fishing.
This highway is so impressive every time I go! The pointed rocks rise high into the sky right next to your vehicle as you wind through a narrow road. At times you thread through the needle, going through one way tunnels in the rock (don't go in a big camper). The vistas are breathtaking, and there are many places to pull off and snap great photos. There were many trailheads and opportunities to hike.
The trees! They are huge, and covered in moss, there are enchanted looking hiking trails through the forrest, and glacier blue green clean water in the lakes. This is a magical place.
