Stretching from Missouri to Arkansas, the Ozark Mountains are home to many surprisingly quirky little gems. There's a lot to do and see, all tucked away among the green-covered mountains, peaceful lakes and shady forests. Make sure you don't overlook any of these hidden treasures as you road-trip through the beautiful and offbeat Ozarks!
Take a hike around the pristine blue waters of Missouri's Big Spring State Park! Limestone gives the natural spring is distinctive hue, and as one of the world's biggest springs, it's not only beautiful but impressively huge as well. Look for the cave where the spring rushes up from underground-- it's definitely a one-of-a-kind sight!
Another natural gem, Ha Ha Tonka State Park lets you explore caves, sinkholes, natural bridges, and the mysterious crumbling ruins of a turn-of-the-century mansion. Plus, the views of the surrounding area from the various trails are unbeatable!
A convenient location in downtown Springfield, clean and comfy rooms, and a perfect breakfast make the Holiday Inn Express Springfield a perfect spot to stay when you're exploring the Ozarks. Springfield has tons of restaurants and shops, and it's not too far away from Branson and attractions such as Fantastic Caverns!
One of the most beautiful spots in all of the Ozarks is Thorncrown Chapel, which was designed by a student of Frank Lloyd Wright (an Ozarks native) to complement the beauty of the surrounding woodlands. The building, which has a whopping 425 windows, looks like something right out of a fairy tale! Take a moment to soak in the serenity of this special place.
For a real thrill, hike out to Whitaker Point (also known as Hawksbill Crag) and take in the mind-blowing view: There's a good reason this craggy rock is one of the most photographed places in Arkansas... and it's also one of the best places in the state to share a smooch.
Arkansas is also home to a unique waterfall known as The Glory Hole, where water trickles into a cave through a hole in the rock above. It's best viewed after it rains, but even if you aren't able to visit after a storm, it's still impressive to know that the hole in the stone was carved just by Mother Nature!
Natural beauty abounds in America's heartland. Plus, you'll pass through cities such as Springfield and Eureka Springs, which are loaded with quirky roadside attractions and historic sites that are just as epic as the natural wonders here!
