We’re so excited that we get to kick off the Endless Caravan campaign with Airstream. It’s a dream come true. I know we’ve been dropping hints and talking about living on the road for a couple years, but we can’t believe it’s finally happening!
First and foremost, we want to thank Airstream for inspiring and making our next grand adventure possible. Selling off all our belongings, moving into a trailer, and learning how to navigate the ins and outs of our new home has already been an adventure in itself. I can’t imagine what the road has waiting for us and our two cats.
It's not every day that you get the chance to literally hike back in time-- but that's exactly what we got to do at Mesa Verde National Park. The mesa in Colorado was home to a tribe of Pueblo Indians, who built breathtaking cliffside apartment complexes into the mesa, in the 13th century. Talk about rooms with a view!
There were a few open to tours of the famed cliff dwellings (Cliff Palace, Long House, and Balcony House are open only for guided tours so pick up tickets at the Visitors' Center!) and we chose the largest of the collection - Cliff Palace. Rightfully named, the once bustling cave contains 200 rooms and 23 kivas (a kiva is a ceremonial room used by the Puebloans)! 700 years ago, the rooms would have boasted brightly painted walls, wooden beams, mortar, and tons more.
We also got to dip in the Balcony House which was especially awesome because we had to climb a ladder and crawl through a tunnel to visit-- the Native Americans who lived here would have climbed in using toe-holds carved into the cliff. Yeah, much cooler.
