“Lake Cushman Camping”
KING5 Evening Magazine's "The Best of the Northwest Escapes" competition voted us 2nd Best Campground. Come on out and check out the natural beauty Skokomish Park at Lake Cushman has to offer. Skokomish Park at Lake Cushman, formerly known as Camp Cushman or Lake Cushman State Park, covers over 500 acres with three boat-launch ramps on the 41,500 feet of freshwater shoreline on Lake Cushman. Park facilities include over 100 sites including camp sites, RV pull-thru and back-in site, walk-in campsites and two group camping areas. Plus, a fantastic day use area with picnic sites, a picnic shelter, volleyball and three comfort stations located throughout the park. The natural beauty of the area can be explored on any of our over 9 miles of trails that are also mountain bike friendly. The eastern part of the Olympic Peninsula has loads of great trails around us in the Olympic National Park. Trailheads nearby include Big Creek, Mount Rose, Mount Ellinor, Dry Creek, Copper Creek, Wagonwheel Lake, Staircase Rapids, Big Log Camp and Flapjack Lakes. Mount Ellinor trail is rated 5 stars by many.

Confirmed by 1 users | Last reported on August 26, 2019Skokomish Park is minutes away from the Hood Canal as well as minutes away from the Staircase section of Olympic National Park. The sites are spacious, nestled in the trees each with large picnic tables and firepits. We stayed in the South Loop and there is a North Loop as well. The campground has nightly movies in the summer, a store with wi-fi access (none in the park) and the lake day use area is only a few steps away. There are kayaks, SUPs and floating toys for rent in the day use yet this lake was so warm, we also just enjoyed swimming in the swimming area. Highlights of the lake are views of Mt Ellinor, excellent kayaking, fishing, rocks perfect from jumping into deep pools, and rope swings along the edge of the lake. The best part was the minimal bugs - we had no mosquito issues and our stay was over the 4th of July.
At the north end of the lake is access into the Staircase section of Olympic National Park with incredible hiking, swimming and another campground. The Staircase Rapids Loop trail is an outstanding 2 mile hike along the Skokomish river.

Arrival was simple. Staff were friendly and the site was exceptionally clean when we arrived (it looked like the staff had raked it that morning). Site 19 was pull-through and didn't require any blocking to level the trailer. Overall, you can tell that they care about their campgorund and take pride in it..clean and well maintained.
Really enjoyed the easy access to a fairly nice beach on Lake Cushman. Spent the day at the beach playing in the water and testing out the rental SUP (on-site rental facility at the beach for kayaks and SUPs). There was a roped off wading area that was great for smaller kids. We were here Sun-Tues in August, so the weekend crowds weren't an issue.

Stayed one night. Beautiful lake, nice campground. A lot of familes in the south camp, but it did quiet down by 10PM. Most sites do not have any utilites. Sites that do just have water and electrical which seem to be near the check in store. Rates are much lower during non high seasons. Grocery store in Hoodsport is within 10 miles. If you want a quieter section, with more space, reserve in the north campground. All checkins are done at the south entrance.

Nice and clean lakeside campground with over 100 sites including campsites, RV pull-thru and back-in site, walk-in campsites and two group camping areas. Offers beautiful views, with lots of trails to explore. Some of the activities you can do are fishing + cray fishing, kayaking and canoeing etc.
