I have been thoroughly impressed with the quality and commitment to excellence Smokiam RV Resort has displayed. Talking with one of the managers, the owners bought this property about 3 years ago and have poured a lot of attention into making this a real RV resort, and it shows. Upon arrival at the end of June, it felt like we were the first people to park in our RV spot. There's new sod, new gravel, new wood rail curbing. They have mature trees for great shade coverage, and if the pool hasn't been newly remodeled it's been kept in great shape. Nice lounge chairs by the pool and sauna, adults only area by a separate hot tub, new putt putt course, kayaks and paddle board rentals, a great playground, it's just all really really awesome and nice.
Soap Lake is a land locked mineral lake, known for improving skin conditions. The water was really warm and pleasant, the mud was kinda slippery. The beach access to the lake directly in front of the resort is super muddy and you'll sink half way to your knees, but if you continue down the beach, there's better access further down.
The worst part of our experience was that we couldn't extend our stay because of 4th of July weekend. If we're in the area again, we're sure to be back!

The beginning of last summer. Their home page said. " A new dock was being built , in place of the previous one." I went there - just to be able to walk off the dock into the lake. I even went back on a day trip, the end of the summer, it was still not anything more than a stack of wood.
It was a nice clean park, the tent sites we drove past looked tinny, but bordered and clean.
The highway is next to the park, since they don't have a solid wooden fence, every time a car goes by, it echoes off highway and water. There was vehicles, coming and going through the property all hours of the night making noise.
We were also not able to enjoy the pool. The people at the out door pool, had large floatation things in it. "So it was a safety issue in case a child went under it." No one would see / realize the child was drowning. The store had a small variety of different items, sadly - had more pop, candy and junk food than 7eleven has. At least they had a wide selection at the coffee bar, that doesn't help kids though.
I took the time to read all about the place on their website to know what I could expect that they would have. It would be nice if they built the dock. Put all teepees on one side of lake, so they do not block the view. Have some/more healthy childrens snacks and drink options. Also enforces only baby jackets or arm floaties in pool. Set a time cars can drive through the park, 9am - 10pm.

We stayed a couple of nights at Smokiam Resort in one of the hot tub sites. It is a very well cared for campground with employees constantly buzzing around on golf carts to be sure there is no litter. Soap Lake is interesting with a very soft muddy bottom on the CG side of the lake.

Rented one of the sites with a hot tub. Easy setup. All sites slope towards the lake and saw some struggling with that. Pretty busy towards the weekend. Well maintained and clean. All the amenities; pool, hot tub, volleyball, horse shoes, etc. Has all kinds of different spots, including some of the nicest tent spots I've seen. Had a minor issue with maintenance draining our hot tub before we were ready to leave. When we complained, we were comped the difference between rates, which was nice. The lake is nothing to get excited about. Up the road a ways is fishing. Not good wifi and local TV is nonexistent. Cell service is sketchy.

ATTENTION!!!! to everyone who has two or more children and is going to relax here, I do not recommend because the owner has changed now and they don’t like children for your children to run, play, ride bicycles. the manager brought the bike and he doesn’t know whose it is and where it came from. In general, we didn’t rest, but were completely in suspense to everyone who is going to relax here, I don’t recommend looking for another place to relax

We were there for a community event that was happening. They told us we could check in early and when we did, they charged us for earky check in which was not mentioned to us beforehand. Wifi was poor.
The event closed at 10 and respected their quiet time, but other campers (not involved with the event) were we being lound and have a party until 1:30 am. They were physically turning people away from the community event. This is the one and only time we will be staying there.
