“Wave after wave of bats”
Head to this bridge at dusk to see the spectacle. There are several different spots where you can view the bats from. You are usually treated to at least 20 minutes of Bats if you get there on time this is truly something different to see while in Austin.
Reviews
Very pretty views of Austin from the bridge. We showed up at 7:30 and that was really early but allowed for a prime spot to watch. The bats didn’t come out until around 9:00 pm and didn’t do their trademark streaming from the bridge more like they swirled around under the bridge so if we weren’t right at the bridge railing we wouldn’t have been able to see anything.
Not as dramatic as some of the pictures online, some of the guides noted it may have been because of the impending rain, but all in all, it was a beautiful view of the Colorado River with a pleasant breeze on a hot evening. While the bats were cool to see, it wasn’t as impressive as expected but the whole experience, including a stunning sunset with a city backdrop, made the couple of hours standing on a bridge with it.
