Enjoyed our one day stay here. Beautiful grounds. Great bike trail!
Arrived at campground and was greeted by ambiance. Wasn't expecting a full brass band but the person checking me in couldn't careless. Drove to site 86, the asphalt pavement was barely large enough for out small trailer and car. Mud everywhere. Why couldn't the check-in young man advised me that the site was muddy and offered an alternate site? There were four other site across the road unoccupied during our stay. Had to dodge the mud during our stay. See picture, only shows one side. I would suggest you drive to you site and if it is as muddy as the one we stayed in return to the office and change it. Showers and bathroom was ok.

Checked in on the 17th. The 2 employees in the store checked me in barely responded to my comments and questions. Tall guy and dark-haired girl. Not quite rude but by no means welcoming. Then, unlike every other campground I've been to, I had to ask for everything I needed. Map of the campground. Wi-Fi password. Instructions were wrong. Didn't matter because it never worked. Got to my site and got hooked up and they called and said they forgot to give me my card back and they were open until 7 pm. I have no toad. Had to walk all the way back to get my card. I asked to speak with the female employee. Told her that true customer service dictated that they really should have brought it to me since it was their mistake, and they knew I didn't have a car. Lame excuse about only 3 people working and no golf cart. They had cars and a maintenance staff. Plus, I would have waited until they could. Asked about the free shuttle to the park that was advertised on their website. Huge appeal since I have no car and am disabled. She said they no longer offered it since covid, and the site hasn't been updated. Really? That was 4 years ago, and the prices are updated. Asked about advertised Wi-Fi. Answer "Well we told you when you got here it might not work." I told her the shuttle and Wi-Fi was false advertising and asked if she cared about reviews. Answer "We don't mind." I said that sounds like you don't care. Answer "We don't mind if you have an opinion," Entire time I talked to her the demeanor was that she really couldn't care less. I was supposed to check out on Friday but unhooked to dump on Thursday to get it out of the way. No sewer at site. Holes filled with dirt. Left my blue hose set up because I was coming straight back. Gone less than an hour, came back, hose was gone. Went to the office and found out maintenance took it. Do they not check with the office first to see when I check out? They had them bring it to the office, not back to my site, and when I stepped out it was just thrown down on the ground by the door and guy was gone. Hose, filter, and pressure gauge. I'm just dumbfounded by the lack of caring and customer service. Never mind Maintenace drove right through my site at least twice making their rounds. Also had a guest walk right by my window with her unleashed pit bull on her morning walk. Besides the fact that I had to dispose of a wasp nest in the electrical box and the site not being level, it is a beautiful campground with concrete pads. There is also no path to the restroom/laundry area in the middle of the multi layered loop. You have to follow the road around to it. Again, difficult without a toad. I will not be back. And if you go, you'll be fine if you lower your expectations. I should mention that I did deal with a very nice girl, blonde, who helped me with park tickets. Exception to the rule. Unfortunately.

Would have given this place 5 stars .. nice spacing between sites .. sewer would be nice, but not a deterrent .. quiet .. nice access to the Legacy bike trail .. only draw back was the laundry facility across from the store .. my wife wouldn’t think about putting our clothes in the washer or dryer they were filthy .. Lilia’s laundromat down the street was awesome ..

The Horse Park is worth the visit horse person and expert or anyone. The park bends over backwards so that you will have an enjoyable day. The campground just down the road has the same attitude. The grounds are busy with campers in and out but there is a quiet, family atmosphere maintained. The staff is friendly and does a decent job. That many people some of which think about themselves make it difficult to maintain it at 5 star quality but they try. We will be back.

Stayed here two night in July 2024. Nice place and quiet considering how full it was. Facilities are nice. No WiFi that worked for us so that was a bummer.

The Horse Park Campgrounds entrance is like driving into a college campus: rolling hills of green (excuse me, maybe it's blue) grass. A winding drive takes you to the center of concentric circle access roads that spread out into campsites that will give you plenty of room for your horse trailer. All the sites are large and pie shaped with lots of room for your critters should you bring them. Water and electric are at each site with a remote dump station.
Showers and bathrooms and lounges are in separate buildings. Maintenance is excellent and everything is clean. All sites are reasonably close to the museums, halls and barnes which are on campus. They also have their share of outdoor basketball courts for recreation, this is Kentucky after all!

First of all, there are three options for camping here: the regular sites with paved pads, picnic tables, and water & electric hook-ups, the primitive electric area which is an open layout with shared electric hook-ups, and the primitive electric area which is a giant open field with no hook-ups. We choose the last option and enjoyed 9 days of near solitude with lots of sun for our solar panels and easy access to all the park's amenities for a mere $20 per night.
During our stay we walked through the main campground several times and I'm fairly certain I would not be giving this campground 5 stars if we had stayed there instead of the primitive area. The sites are close together with no privacy, and they allow golf carts which means every other camper was zooming around on a cart with kids hanging off the back. So if you don't need hook-ups do yourself a favor and choose the primitive area.
The location of the park is fantastic. Next door is the Horse Park where you will find a museum, a working horse farm, an arena and much more. Be sure to purchase your tickets at the campground for a discounted rate. Also in the area are a number of Kentucky Bourbon distilleries, lots of good places to eat (don't miss the nearby Red State BBQ), and the Keenland Race Track.

So we were here in early February and had it mostly to ourselves. It's a huge campground with a pool and playgrounds, but our main reason for picking it was location. 30 mins to Woodford Reserve and the beautiful Versailles Rd, although we found out too late that we should have stopped for lunch at Wallace Station.
The horse park itself was pretty dead at that time of the year, especially during the week but still a fun place to explore and great museum. We walked over out the back of the CG and picked our way through the empty arenas to the visitor center etc.

Beautiful tree shaded camping site, paved lot, 50 amp service and watch out for the the high pressure water. We would have stayed longer if we could have. Miles of pave road throughout the park for bicycles and walking. Everything in the park was clean, crisp and GREEN! We loved seeing the horses, Lexington and all the activities of fellow campers. Antenna TV was good, verizon access for my work was good. Access was easy from I75 and park was not light polluted like some. There was no road noise. This was probably the best laid out campgrounds for giving everyone room and a modicum of privacy. Thank you Kentucky Horse Campgrounds!
