“Camping / RV in Flagstaff, AZ”
Campground Information The Fort Tuthill County Park Campground is managed by Recreation Resource Management (RRM). Camping areas include RV and tent sites with picnic tables, fire rings, nearby portable toilets, and water spigots. With almost 100 sites and four Group Areas, we have room for most everyone. We do have eight RV sites with water and sewer hook-ups. Sorry, electricity and shower facilities are not available. Generators are allowed though with typical “Quiet Hours” being observed; Quiet at 10:00 pm and back on at 6:00 am. Your Pets are always welcome at the campground. However, all pets must on a leash at all times and never leave your pet unattended. Tall Ponderosa Pine Trees create a rustic "camping in the woods" experience and provide shade on hot summer days. Firewood and Ice are available for purchase at the campground. The campground is very busy on holiday weekends and during the County Fair. Nearby attractions are Flag Extreme Adventure Course, the New County Bike Park, Archery Range, Military Museum, Model Railroad Club, Fair Grounds, Equestrian Arena and Cross Country Course, and of the course the Pepsi Amphitheater where concerts are held regularly. Just a few miles away down Lake Mary Road you will find, fishing, water skiing and relaxing on the beach of Upper Lake Mary. The campground is open for reservations and drop-in use from May 1st through September 30th. Campground Reservations If you are making reservations, remember, you must make your reservation at a minimum of three days in advance of your anticipated arrival date. Otherwise you will come in as a First Come First Serve Guest. Reservations for the Campground at Fort Tuthill County Park can be made at CampFortTuthill.com. We've stayed here twice. The first time by mistake as we thought we had reservations at the military campground next door-which is only open to vets and military retirees. Fort Tuthill is fine, mostly dusty dirt under pine trees. Shade is good but verizon signal was poor and unreliable. You can hear the planes from the airport and the noise from the people having fun at the zip line place next door. You can actually watch them. Section E was in the front but also the most accessible and level. If you have a tent then you have more choices including the back areas which were not level for a trailer. We were here in the rain the first time and boy does it flood!!! Bad drainage! With limited choices in the area, this place may be a good choice for some as it is basically dry camping with bathrooms and no showers...which is why we watched some campers bring their soap and towel to the water spout across from our spot 😝

We stayed here during our daughter's high school mountain biking team's race weekend. The race was right in the park, so this was super convenient. It was also super packed and super busy, which was expected since 50 teams from all over Arizona were participating. There are a lot of events held at this park, so I imagine it's busy often.
The campground's online reservation system is one of the worst I've ever come across. The map is a cartoonish joke, and trying to search for available sites on certain dates is maddening because there is no option that allows you to see what sites are open for the dates you want. You have to search each site individually. Then after you go through all their hoops to figure out whether or not you want to stay there, they add a ridiculous $12 booking fee to your reservation. $21 a night for dry RV camping and tent camping is steep. But $6 a night more just to book online (and phone reservations are not accepted so don't think you're going to save any money) is outright mean.
But, like I said, we were right there in the middle of the action so we did what we had to do.
The campground is pretty because it's set right inside a gorgeous forest of pines. The roads are dirt, but they're wide and big rigs can get through easily. Some spots have full hook-ups, but ours did not. Ours was also listed as a back-in site, but it's a pull through. The campground map and online site specifications are not accurate. Site driveways are dirt, and each site as a picnic table and stone fire pit. No grills or grates.
Fort Tuthill County Park has lots to do. In addition to miles of biking and hiking trails, they have a mountain biking skills course and pump track. There's an awesome ropes course on site called Flagstaff Extreme Adventures. Our son did the junior course the day the team pre-rode the course, so it was nice that he was able to keep busy and have a lot of fun doing that! He loved the bike park, too. Fairgrounds are there, and I heard there was an airsoft arena, too.
The campground does have an oddly placed dump station right in the middle of the place, and water filling stations are all through the campground. Be aware: all the restrooms are port-a-potties. They were clean, but they were port-a-potties. I'd actually prefer a vault toilet? I guess so. It was just strange.
We had a team dinner at our site, but families had to park outside the campground to avoid the $7 parking fee inside the campground.
Cell service was sketchy at best, which is weird because we were no more than a mile away from I-17 and the town of Flagstaff is five minutes away.
The host was very helpful and accommodating when we needed a late check-out on race day. The couple is very friendly and kind, and I'd say they are the best part of this campground.

There are two campgrounds here: one is at the county park and available to the public; the other is a military campground. We have stayed here many times in the country park campground. There are biking/hiking trails right beside the campground, and there's also an extremely well thought out bike park that's a lot of fun. Additionally, there is a ropes course and a zip line course right there too called Flagstaff Extreme. And downtown Flagstaff is a mere 15 minute drive. Other mountain biking trails are all around Flagstaff and Sedona is only 45 minutes down 89A. There is a lot to do here!
The campground is nicely shaded by pine trees, but vegetation is scarce so there isn't much privacy. The interior sites are small and close together, so the best sites are those on the perimeter. The restrooms are port-a-potties, but they are cleaned regularly, have motion sensor lights, and are stocked with hand sanitizer.
Water spigots are spaced throughout the campground. There are a few water/electric hookup sites, but those are very close together so we prefer dry camping. There is a dump/water station where you can fill your fresh water tank upon arrival.
The roads throughout the campground are dirt, and during the dry season it can get very dusty, especially if it's windy. However, if you are there during monsoon season (July-Sept), the ground can be quite muddy.
Overall, we've enjoyed our trips to Fort Tuthill for its convenient location and access to so many fun activities.

Our RV started stalling after driving up the hills on highway 40 in the heat of August so we picked this park on a whim and it was incredible!! The nicest and most helpful people ran this place they were super accommodating, they even gave us the numbers to mobile RV repair shops. We drove a 30ft coach pulling a trailer and they made sure we had a spot that we were comfortable in. It was such a tranquil campsite with the coolest trees. They have sewer and water hookups, no electric. You can run your generator til 9pm. They sell firewood for $7 a bundle and the weather is perfect! Two things I would like to mention that don’t involve the site itself...the signage is a little confusing when entering the park and since we went in the middle of the pandemic the same road on the way into the park also had covid testing going on but other than that this place was amazing, can’t wait to come again!

I booked this campground as a backup plan but after spending there 5 days it might be my favorite place to camp in Arizona during summer. When we camp, we always stay very active and look for outdoorsy things to do. So for us, campground is more like a base. Well, we had fun at Flagstaff Extreme which is right there. We enjoyed biking on Flagstaff Urban Bike Trail which also is attacked to a campground and discovered hiking trails ( multiple) originating at the campground. Spots are little too close however we had great neighbors. And all hosts were absolutely friendly and helpful.

There are 2 campgrounds at Fort Tuthill, one is open to the public, and one is military only- active or retired. You must have an ID from the DOD to camp here- this review is for the military campground.
This was a really nice space. There are cabins, rv sites with hookups, and dry sites for tents or small RVs.
We stayed at both a hookup site, and a dry site.
The spaces are close together, but everyone camping here is so friendly and helpful, all being part of the military community.
People from the site next to me helped me hook up and back in, since it was just me and my toddler.
There’s a large playground for kids, and while the equipment is kinda run down, it was still really nice to have. My toddler had no issues finding other kids to play with, as there were many families camping here.
The front office where you check in has a small coffee bar that also sells beer and a few other small items and snacks. There’s also a full bath house available to anyone staying at the campground.
There is a dump station on site, which is free for guests, and $10 if you’re just stopping by to empty tanks. I didn’t see anywhere to fill up fresh water tanks-although I wasn’t looking-
It was very busy over the weekend, but there were still a handful of tent sites open. It almost completely emptied out on Sunday morning, and was pretty quiet.
A good amount of the sites are not level, so be prepared to have to do some leveling yourself.
Overall, we really enjoyed our stay here!

This review is for the Ft. Tuthill County Park, not the military park next door.
County Park has only 7 sites with water and sewer. No power on any site. In reading the park description it said full hookups. I assumed power was included. That swhat i get for assuming. Be creful when booking.
Otherwise the campground is very dusty with sites very close together. The sites with water and sewer share hookup locatoins, so RVs are parked with hookup sides together, which means they are also parked with access door sides together. The site next to me has two tables, I have none.
Sites are not level. Be prepared to level up.
I am sure there are tent sites that would be away from others, but in the area I am in, they are also close.
Generators allowed from 7 am to 10 pm.
