Fire's are allowed in a ring depending on current fire conditions. Fire rings are $5 for the duration of your stay. Firewood cost $5.99 per bundle. There are 95 sites and tent camping is allowed. We stayed in space 15 with our 27 foot Coachmen and although the site is somewhat tight, we had ample room once we disconnected and parked our tow vehicle perpendicular to the site. Tonto Natural Bridge is located 15 miles away and is a great place to visit. The park has a pool which is currently being remodeled and will be up for the summer 2016 season. We plan to make this a regular summer getaway.

Access from the four-lane highway is easy if there's not a stream of vehicles. Interior roads are uneven dirt through the trees so take you time following your escort, it's snug in some places. They've done a good job of keeping things trimmed around and overhead.
Our site was private level and quiet and dark - perfect. A picnic table would be nice, and there's plenty of room for a large one here. FHUs with 50 amp all worked well.
Park WiFi worked better than most - be sure to get a code for each device you want to use. There didn't seem to be a limit.
Temps got hot while we were here and pool wasn't open, check on that if you're expecting a pool. Could be it's not their season yet.
Friendly and helpful staff, nice public area in office with pool table. Didn't use restrooms, showers, or laundry.
Small dog runs but as long as you pick up after them, dogs can be walked anywhere in the park.
Resort is a misnomer, but it's a nice park.

We stayed at the Payson RV Park for 10 days and it was our first campground as new full time RVers, so it was the perfect place to figure everything out.
Check-in was easy, all the staff were really friendly. It's a great proximity to town - we walked to the Steakhouse restaurant right next door one night and cycled to the local rodeo another night. Plenty of trees and good privacy in some spots.
Dog runs are small, but I ended up walking my dog around the park with no issues. Plus, there are some great trails across the street at the Forestry Service Ranger station if you want to get your dog off the lead.
We were in #43 and it was wonderful - full hook up with 50amp. If you're in a tent or small camper I'd recommend #91 - incredibly secluded :)
We'd absolutely stay here again if we're ever in Payson again!

We stayed here May 18th to the 21st. We were a little scared of this place from some of the reviews we found online, but we figured people like to hate online. We really liked the park!
The staff was friendly and they helped us back in. We had no issues with the 50amp pedestal, the water or the sewer. Our site, and all other empty sites, were raked and clean. They said quiet hours were after 10pm, but the place was never loud, very peaceful.
Cars were not speeding around like other websites said, therefore the dust wasn't that bad. I do think some spaces were very tight and peoples tables were very close to each other. But our site (#29) was specially good, we had plants to one side, and some building on the other, very private. There were about 10 to 15 full timers on the site (we walked the whole park), but their sites looks fairly clean, except for 2 or 3 of them.
Safeway grocery store is just a 3 min drive of 10 min walk. Same thing for Bashes and other stores and restaurants.

While this "Campground" is in the city of Payson, Az you wouldn't know it looking around. Once you pull off of Highway 260, just East of the Giant gas station, you will pull up the driveway to the office. After checking in you drop down into the campground of established trees. The entrance acts as a buffer between the city and the campground. Sound doesn't seem to reach over the small hill entrance.
I'm traveling full time in a 32-foot 5th wheel and asked for a site with 50 amp service, which is what I got. The road after the campground can be a little bumpy and is composite dirt and small gravel and well as the individual sites. They do have camping here in tents as well but there were very few campers here this time of year and it seemed like much of the campground was closed for the season.
The campground offers several restrooms with showers, however, I didn't go in the one that was open. The grounds were very well kept, other than a few bumps in the road probably caused by the weather (rain and snow). Some of the sites seem a little small but most pretty normal size for an older established private campground. They also have a pool that I didn't visit either.
During my stay, there was a record snowstorm and cold spell in the teens at night leaving trailers pretty much snowbound for a few days. When asked, the management plowed an exit for trailers and sprinkled some dirt down to assist pulling the trailer out. They seemed very accommodating.

You'd never know you were in town or right by the highway when you slide into your pull-through site for the night. The restrooms are first class clean and the front office is freshly renovated. For $42 I feel like the sites should have been paved, but the gravel is neatly raked and level. They are a bit too close together for my taste, but we're the kind that would rather be in a state park or out in BLM territory if we could find it. The folks up front are super nice, and the check in process was easy. You feel like you're in the forest but Safeway is just up the street. Four stars is just for the slightly too high price. We got the Good Sam discount but no additional discount was offered when we said we wouldn't even hook up to any services. But I'm nitpicking. We'd stay again in a heartbeat.

This park had easy pull through sites, right in town but very quiet. Bathrooms were clean and well maintained.

We stayed here on our first trip with our new motorhome to test the systems. We wanted to get out of the Phoenix area for some cooler weather while still being close to conveniences since we haven't purchased our towed vehicle yet. We were within walking distance of several good restaurants and a gas station, so we had no need for an additional vehicle.
The facilities were well kept. The staff was very helpful and friendly. We did not use the WiFi, but cell service was great.
The park was very clean and overall quiet. However, our particular spot was on the southwest side of the park, which is near a car wash. During the day, you could clearly hear the air dryer of the car wash almost constantly. It wasn't a big deal, but it certainly reminds you that you are close to town.
We would definitely stay here again.

Friendly staff that kept things going while checking in on a busy weekend without making you feel like your being herded like cattle. 1st trip out with the toy hauler so we just wanted a place with hookups to see what would work or not. On site staff was very patient and understanding with a couple of questions, ensuring we initially got set up ok.
The park entrance is well marked and once into the park the traffic noise from Hwy 260 dissipates. I actually appreciate and prefer the lack of pavement, as well we really like the abundance of trees in the park, so if your RV is a pavement princess, look elsewhere.
Our only observation would be that if your pulling an older toy hauler or a lifted one like ours that has a steep ramp angle to begin with, we would recommend unloading / loading toys up top by the office where there is more flat ground to get a better ramp angle.
Verizon cell service worked just fine, no clue 4G, 3G or whatever, it worked good enough to search for a new dually...lol.

The guy who checked us in, is also the person who maintains the park. He is efficient, friendly and we appreciated that he took such great care of the grounds while we were there.
Their bathrooms were spotless and so was the laundry room.
Their dog 'areas' are rather small which would be best for tiny dogs, if you have a large dog; there is a dog park not far from the RV park you could drive to.
Located in town, you are nearby shopping, restaurants and groceries.
I would recommend this location.
