First time to Ruedi Reservoir in 35+ years. A small National Forest Campground, 1 vault toilet, 2 stalls. Very clean even with heavy weekend usage. Easy and roomy in and out. The scenery was great, the weather when we arrived was just after a spring snow shower but the rest of our 5+ days were excellent weather. The camp hostess, Jean, was all over taking care of her campground. She kept people and place in good order. Most sites had shade, some did not. Water with a hose bib was on site and many trash dumpsters here and there. No dump station nearby. The dump station at the Ruedi Campground was closed. The nearest Dump was as Rifle or Parachute.
Many dog owners were clueless on what 'Pets On Leash' meant but no big problems. Almost all the sites could accommodate 30' travel trailer or Motorhomes. The fishing out the back door of the campground was pointedly awesome. Where the river turned into a lake I took 20+ fish in two days only fishing an hour each day on dry flys, wet flys and nymphs. It didn't seem to matter. Down the lake at the boat ramp things were busy but not horrible. Many campers, fisher persons, boats and wild and crazy little kido's. Bald Eagles were nailing the unsuspecting trout here and there, kind of fun to watch. It's a campground we'll return to in the fall to get an eyefull of the turning aspen.
