“Working with portland farms to make great cheese”

Take a walk through this factory on a self-guided tour. Learn a lesson or two about the history of cheese-making in this Oregonian town and watch it being produced and packaged. Just over a hundred years ago, several small creameries teamed up to form the Tillamook County Creamery Association (TCCA) to ensure the quality and reputation of cheese made in the Tillamook Valley. The creameries that created TCCA knew that together, working cooperatively toward that goal, they could make even better products. Maybe even make a better life for themselves. They were right. Today, we’re made up of over 100 dairy farm families who own TCCA (many of whom are kin to the early pioneers), and the Tillamook brand can be found in stores from Portland, Oregon to Portland, Maine. As much as we’ve grown, we haven’t lost sight of our past. We still use the same cheddar cheese recipe, now over 100 years old. And we’re still true to the values that brought us together in the first place. We treat every day as an opportunity to follow our founders’ example, by working hard to make the highest quality, best-tasting dairy products. Dairy farming is what we love to do, and we’re proud of our products. We know you’ll enjoy them as much as we do.

Closed until summer 2018, but until then, feel free to visit the slapped together temporary visitor center. Prices are more than your local supermarket, however you can purchase items that say Tillamook on them ranging from T-shirts to coffee mugs.

And buy an insulated Tillamook bag! You will smile at every time you use it to bring icecream home from the store, or pack a lunch in! Fun!

Only an hour and a half from Portland the Tillamook Cheese Factory was a fun, free trip for the kids with great views into the various working production areas. For the parents the tour ends with a bulk Cheese store and tasting room with tillamook icecream, local jam and wines. Was a great quick visit on our way to the coast.

It's worth stopping to learn and see this local cheese manufacturing site. Free self guided tour with free cheese samples, gift shops, very fresh eatery, and tons of flavors of very large scoops of ice cream for an afternoon treat.

Self guided tour that's free! You get unlimited cheese samples and they sell ALL kinds of cheese and ice cream. Loved seeing the factory view upstairs and how the process works. Would recommend to friends and family to see! There's also an ice cream parlor down stairs that's delicious!

You HAVE to stop... even if you are just driving up the 101. We made sure to include it in our trip through Oregon. The self guided tour and free cheese are worth the stop alone.
Pro Tip: Get a "scoop" of ice cream before walking through the tour. It's a nice touch and the things are HUGE!

Fabulous! Great tour, information and love the new building. Ice cream is wonderful and all I buy these days. My third, but not last trip, to the cheese factory.
