Not too bad little cute spot. We stopped here on the way back from Colorado to Texas so my son could see the volcano. Normally you can walk up to the rim but for some reason it was not available to hike. The rv park was not bad. It had good hookups for water and electric but no place for a fire. There were two small grills for anyone there to share and the people that own or run it were very nice.
Showers and bathrooms are clean and spacious. Laundry on site. The showers were included in the site and did not require quarters. Site has WiFi also. Small store within walking distance.
Right off the main road but the speed is very low so noise was not a factor.

Our second trip there, we found it had new owners. The Winona not very friendly. Called to stay as we were in transit, but she wanted full price with no bathrooms/showers use stating Coronavirus. They are not on lock down. Either they don’t want to share the paper towels/tp or they font want to maintain the bathrooms... we opted to continue on past to a place with amenities and less $$.

We are star photographers and this area has exceptionally dark skies. We stayed two night and were quite pleased. The owner was quite cordial. The entire campground is gravel so there are no muddy spots. It is clean, everything works, and we would most definitely stay here again.
I don't know if the bathrooms were open or not. They may have been closed due to COVID-19 but I"m not sure. Verizon was either 3 or 4 bars here and our hotspot was quite fast. The volcano was only a few miles away and was a great daytime activity.
Do be aware there is not much in Capulin. There is a small general store/gift shop and a post office. That's about it. If you want fuel you'll have to go to Des Moines, about 10 miles east. I seem to recall a small restaurant in Des Moines as well.
Overall, a well taken care of facility. Be aware it is by the highway, but we didn't hear much traffic. We would definitely stay again.

We stayed here on our way back from CO to TX in Feb 2020.
There's a large sign on the highway for the turnoff which wasn't lit (and the night was dark), so we overshot a bit and had to go back - that was an adventure.
Had a great evening and the place pretty much to ourselves. Hookups all worked, showers were in great condition. We enjoyed the fire pit. We took the truck up to visit the volcano in the morning, had a lovely hike (despite the blistery cold wind!), and returned to check out.

Decent little park for an overnight. They currently require you to be self contained as their bathrooms and showers are unavailable due to the pandemic.
Property is mostly gravel, sites are very close together and the only privacy you’ll have is what you find in your RV. We had grumpy neighbors on both sides but for an overnight it’s doesn’t matter. There’s a busy highway close by but not much traffic late at night.
Capelin National Monument is worth a visit if you have time.
Would gladly stay here again

Many of the public parks in New Mexico were closed due to Covid, so we needed a plan B for an overnight stay on the way to Colorado. This place fit the need. Manager was nice and helped us select a spot. It is mostly a gravel lot with hookups - close together. A few trees. No table or fire pit with site. There is a fire pit near a grassy area where there is tent camping. Bathrooms are great. Showers have a small fold out wall table, shower chair, hooks - very clean.

Friendly, convenient, and quick. All services available including laundry. Large crushed rock parking area with pull thru sites. Some road noise but overall not too bad. For a quick stop - it worked perfect.

Drove to the northwest 2015, Alaska 2019, broke up my route just to stay here. Looking forward to another visit.

Convenient overnight stop on our way up north. The host greeted us nicely, we were given our choice of spots. We had our choice of partial or full hook-ups. Entire park is gravel, spots relatively level. There is a bathroom and laundry room but we did not go into it. Park is directly off the highway, easy to find. Highway is not heavily traveled, it was pretty quiet, there were only three other units there.
The town is very small, 66 inhabitants, the park and a convenience store across the highway are the only things in town. Which was inconvenient for us as we came in experiencing a potentially serious problem with our truck. Nearest town with any services was 26 miles further north, none of which were open on a weekend.
