Confirmed by 4 users | Last reported on October 10, 2020This seems to be a little-used campground, but for seniors or disabled who can camp for half price, it's a deal. It's far enough off the beaten track that there isn't any noise. Drinking water is available, as well as trash disposal and vault toilets. There are a few pull-thru sites, but most are back-in. This campground had lots of extra sites while I was there, possibly I was early in the season. The view was great, as you can see from the photo. The town of Big Pine was not far away and the road to the Ancient Bristlecone National Monument was just north of town. That's definitely worth a drive up there.

Price is America the Beautiful Seinor rate. Otherwise it's $5.00 Spent 6 nights here, very quiet and peaceful. Great views of the Sierras to the west and the White mountans to the east. Most sites have shading trees, but plenty of sun for solar. Concrete tables, newer firepits and lantern hook. Most spots are back in but there are a few pull through. No water and clean pit toilets. You can fill at Division Creek Rest Area , 3 miles south on 395.Good cell service with T-Mobile, 25 down, 10 up. It is also a LTVA summer campground.

We stopped for a night, just passing thru. Amazing views of the Sierra Mntns! Not far off the highway but we didn't hear any traffic noise. Lots of space between sites, but it is pretty much just a wide open space with brush and a few trees so you can still see your neighbors. Luckily when we were there, there were only two other campers so we picked a spot with lovely view of the mntns and could see no one else. Large clean sites with picnic tables and firepits. Pit toilets were clean. Camp host site but we didn't see anyone around.

About 40 spots. Clean toilets, no water, dumpster for trash. No open flame for our visit, but fire rings and tables at every site. Larger rigs should go left after entrance. Couple of pull throughs, but set up is better for big rigs in the lower section of campground. Great views of the big valley!

Camped 5/7/21, 5/8/21 (Fri, Sat). Rate was $2.50/night (Senior Pass half price). Goodale Road ends at this campground, which splits into two loops. The creek is small and overgrown with shrubs. All sites are in full sun, but a number of them have taller trees for a little shade. Sites are spaced out some, have a picnic table, fire ring, a lantern hook and amazing views of the mountains.
The VT in our loop was clean, not smelly, and had TP and hand sanitizer. Our site was level. We didn't hear noise from 395 at all, but being out in the open, we heard the other campers talking (place was about half full during our visit). It was cool to explore the interesting lava rocks in the field behind the campground. We also visited the Ancient Bristlecone Pine Forest (about 23 miles out of Big Pine), and checked out Tinemaha Reservoir, but swimming & kayaking not allowed.

I live only about 2.5 hours south of this camp ground. I have stayed here several times in my pop-up camper. I consider it my go-to site. When I just need to get away for a night or a weekend I head to the Goodale Camp ground. Not much to do here but look at the mountains and just relax. I have never seen more than two other campers here at one time. So you can really get spread out. In the summer when it's hot I have to run the generator most of the afternoon to power the A/C unit. There are fish in that tiny creek, but there is so much brush that you can get a pole in there to make a cast. I'm don't care. I'm not a fisherman anyway. Sometimes I just drive up for a short visit without the camper. I don't need to say anything else. All of the other reviews have said it all.

When I first got my camper van, Goodale Creek CG was the first campground I noted to try. 3 years later, I finally stopped for a night on my way home from the Lee Vining/Bridgeport area. This cg is convenient to the towns of Independence and Lone Pine for provisions and good eateries as well as the Alabama Hills and Whitney Portal for day trips.
It’s an exposed area generally but there are spots closer to the creek with shade. Spaces are widely spaced and feel private. Pit toilets are very clean. Every site has a picnic table, fire ring, and pole to hang a lantern. Sites are fairly level but you may need some blocks at a few…nothing drastic. Camp host was terrific. Super friendly and chill. If you’re a hiker/biker, there are many places to explore along the creek which was running strong in October still. Mountain and valley views were beautiful. It is a dry camp so bring plenty of water. Fellow campers were quiet, friendly, and respectful. I’m glad I finally stayed here. For $5 or $2.50 a night if you have the senior pass…it’s a steal. I would stay again during the cooler months for sure.

Lots of good reviews so I'll just say where you can get nearby water. The camp host, a nice guy, let me know that you could get water in Aberdeen, one mile away, at the Aberdeen resort (you passed it on the way to the campground). There's a little welcome store at the 'resort'. It's a large red building that you can't miss if you're looking at the Aberdeen resort. There is a red hose out front next to the road where I filled my water jugs. The water was perfectly fine.
Also, there is supposed to be a hand pump at the nearby Taboose Crk. county Park where you can pump water yourself.
