We stayed here in January 2024 on our way to the Dallas area from Galveston.
This campground was included with the free Thousand Trails camping pass that was given to us with the purchase of our RV. Its proximity to I-45 and the fact that we didn't have to pay to stay here made it an easy decision. It's nothing too special, but was a fine stop on our trip.
The park is pretty large and the RV site section is on some rolling hills, so they're not all level. Also, the mild slopes funneled water to weird places during the rain storm the day before we arrived leaving some of the gravel roads a bit bumpy and one section washed out enough to be coned off and deemed impassible. I think I remember them working on resolving that while we were there. We lost water service for a period in the middle of the day. When I called to report the outage the office told me that they took it offline to do some work on it and had it back up in running within an hour or so...not too bad.
The park was otherwise in good condition and seemed pretty full at the time. The laundry room was in good working order and the pool looked beautiful even though it was a bit to chilly for us to try it out. There was plenty of grassy areas for kids and dogs and even a dog park. If you have a boat, there is a boat ramp into a cove of Lake Conroe and there appeared to be plenty of boat trailer parking.
Overall, the staff and people camping there were all friendly and the park was nice. It seemed like a typical Thousand Trails campground which offered maybe a little more than some others with its lake access, but was otherwise forgettable for us just passing through. We would consider stopping here again if it falls in route and the price was right.

Park is really nice in beautiful surroundings. Great looking pool, basketball courts, playground, all well maintained. Laundry nice as well as bathrooms. We had 30 amp which was fine for all of our needs including air conditioning. Lots of room for kids to play. Pull throughs a bit tight but not bad really. There were plenty of open spots even though it was first come, first serve.

Lake Conroe TT is one of the most " in the process of being improved" TT parks we've ever visited. We haven't seen much so this was new to us. BUT, the focus is not for their nomadic member's but rather to put on the dog to attract Annual Park model clientele. That's not the only "new to us". Park administrative behaviors we found are less then what one would expect from an RV park. This park will NOT receive any deliveries for their guest who's parcels or mail comes delivered by the United States Postal Services. They very rudely and without notice to me, returned the packages I'd ordered from Amazon and shipped from Amazon via USPS, to sender. The packages were received initially by the front desk or mail room but the returned. The Amazon website showed my packages delivered - "Your package was delivered. It was handed directly to a receptionist or someone at a front desk." Very poor customer service to say the least.
The park is nicely located near I 45 and the town's of Willis and Conroe.
As far as the site itself. We found it acceptable. We had a 50 amp full hook up site. Gravel and a little muddy around the edges but acceptable nonetheless. Our first day there we blew the breaker at the pedestal. It must have been an anomaly for we had no further issue in our 4 night stay. Our Verizon phone and data service worked but was not anything steller. 4.14 Mbps down and similar up was our experience on a couple of test ran. Streaming video would cause my VoIP phone to struggle some.
My overall rating (1*) is directly related to our experience with the seemingly very non professional handle from a guest services stand point.

Overall we consider this one of the nicer parks we have stayed in and the amenities are top notch! Great activities center, kids playground, basketball, and dog run. There is a lake with docks as well as volleyball and a small beach.
The laundry is a bit small for such a large park, but they must expect quite a bit of coming and going.
We have family in Houston and drove in a few times, only about 45 minutes - pretty good location. Also a good distance from shopping and restaurants.
Some of the sites are pull thru and some are back in - the back in seem to be a bit better because of more space. Also, some of the pull thru were not as level as we would have liked, but we just kept looking. This is the kind of park where you have to go find your site, but we had plenty to choose from. Also, the new area will be concrete pads with a lot of space.
One other thing - if it rains, there will be mud. But hey, it is the outdoors, what can you expect.
If we lived close to this, we would come here all the time!

We traveled from bend Oregon to Houston to avoid the fridged northwest winter. Even though winter followed us here anyway, yes, it snowed in Houston Texas of all places, we had a very pleasant time here. Lodge is new with a fulltime, albeit a bit pricey, restaurant inside. Great fitness room, lovely pool and hot tub. Wonderful courts, it actually felt like a nice, member resort a stark contrast to the normal TT experience.
It rained a lot, and while I can’t blame the park for the weather, I can blame them for making the new pull through sites out of packed clay, which turned to sticky slimey snot. First time I came, I sank the trailer up to the axels in mud. Thank God I had 4wd.
Lake Conroe is beautiful and we picnic BBQed on the makeshift island by the marina. Staff was great and they really enjoyed having kids there. One of the staff members put our 10 year old son to work cleaning tables and bought him a pancake lunch as a reward. He was thrilled!
Great location outside Houston. Downtown is about 45 min away. Costco is 15 minutes away. Johnson space center is an 1:15. And Kemah Bay is about an hour and a half.
Highly recommend you take a break from the normal TT park experience and stay here. It’s worth the drive.

This is a Thousand Trails membership park, and one of the nicer ones I've been to date. It's very apparent they're putting a lot of money into this place to get it up to par. The majority of the park is older and looks fairly typical as far as campground sites go, but they just built a brand new section (B) with large sites and huge concrete pads and lots of wifi antennas. It feels more like a resort than a campground. I can't comment on the the wifi because there's a fee and I was able to squeeze enough out of the available Verizon signal to get online. They're also building out another section with brand new cottages for sale, looks like a mini HOA subdivision. The bathroom facilities are very clean and above average. The pool looks very nice. Awesome dog park. Two laundry rooms with plenty of machines so you shouldn't have to schedule your laundry at the wee hours of the morning to get a machine. Easy lake access if you have a boat. Close proximity to shopping for whatever you need. This place has it all.

Texas soul is different and rain does not drain for 2 days. Pick a site that is higher than the grass area. They had thrown new stone into the site we choose but did not pack it down. Our rig cut deep 4 inch ruts trying to back in the site. Called the Rangers of our concerns and they said No one has ever gotten stuck! The grass area is even with the site and it holds rain for 2 days. We had to pull the truck to the road in order to get in on the passenger side. The mud puddles were full. They had 3 inches prior to our arrival and 5 afterwards. It’s just different soil. 50 amp was good. Lots of construction as they are adding on. New sign at the SR830 intersection. Look for white sign with green letters. No longer brown with yellow.

We really enjoyed our stay here. There are a ton of sites here so there’s plenty to pick from.
You could almost see the AT&T cell tower from the park so coverage and speed were fantastic (30-60mps down)

This was my first experience with thousand trails and the place that I signed up for an elite membership. There are a plethora of different types of campsites ranging from partially secluded to concrete suburbs style RVing. Lake Conroe is beautiful and there plenty of boat slips. The pool is great and the entire property is well maintained.

Bad:
- You pay an extra nightly fee for 50amp hook up. I've never seen this at any other TT.
- Pay for package delivery and mail.
- About an hour out of the city.
Good:
- The campsite is very well kept. The amenities were in excellent condition. There aren't a lot of old campers. It has a resort feel.
- Excellent AT&T (MoFi Router) cell signal. I was able to work, stream, and video conference throughout our stay. The WiFi at the clubhouse was strong as well.
