Overview Graham Creek Campground is situated above Vallecito Lake, in the scenic San Juan National Forest of southwestern Colorado. Visitors enjoy the area for its beautiful scenery and wide range of recreational activities, including boating, fishing and hiking.Recreation Vallecito Lake is a very popular fishing destination, where anglers cast for German brown trout, cutthroat trout, rainbow trout, kokanee salmon and northern pike. The lake offers great boating, water skiing and canoeing opportunities. Boat rentals and fishing licenses are available at various locations around the lake. A variety of hiking and horseback riding trails are found in the area. The North Canyon Trail begins across the road from the campground and leads through ponderosa pine and aspen forests on its way through the canyon. A shorter trail leads to a scenic overlook of the lake. East Creek Trail begins a quarter-mile up Forest Road 852, just northeast of the campground. The trail provides access to a lightly used, scenic drainage where fly-fisherman cast for brook trout. Both trails are popular with horseback riders, however, horses are not allowed in the campground.Facilities The campground offers single-family campsites, a few of which have lake views. Sites are each equipped with a picnic table and campfire ring. Vault toilets and drinking water are provided. The south side of the campground is adjacent to private property.Natural Features Vallecito Lake, Spanish for "little valley," sits at an elevation of 7,900 feet. Scattered ponderosa pine trees tower over the open campground, offering limited shade. Hillside sites are about 100 yards from the high-water line and offer nice lake views. A thick understory provides privacy between sites. Thickets of willow separate the camping area from the lakeshore. Several short trails lead to the lake from the campground. High peaks of the San Juans are visible to the northwest of the campground.

We found this CG while returning across SW Colorado. There are 3 San Juan National Forest campgrounds along the eastern shore of this reservoir. Access is by good gravel road. The campgrounds all border the lakeshore with lots of nice trees, large ponderosas, although minimal lake access. Most sites have nice lake views. The campground was very well maintained and I liked that the toilets were compost rather than vault. There is a nice trail that follows the shoreline out of Graham Creek as well as nice walking bicyling between the 3 campgrounds. It was warm during the day but cooled off nicely in the evening. Minimal bugs. We will definitely stop there again and stay a few days next time.

Beautiful location, sites are relatively private. Vault toilets and potable water available, but no hookups. Dogs allowed on leash. Simply stunning views of the lake!! Cell phone service was hit or miss with Verizon.

We loved this site. The setting was amazing and it was an excellent last spot for our 2020 trip to Colorado. Cellular was ok, but that’s not the reason we were there. Would definitely recommend Graham Creek Campground.

Arrived without a reservation on a Sunday afternoon. Big spot and fairly secluded. Plenty of room for our 26’ trailer, F350 Superduty Extended cab to back in. Picnic table was nice. Spot was not level, took 2 2x6’s and 6 blocks. Hosts were pleasant and overall a quiet spot.
Reason for 4 stars is we were down wind from the restrooms and the smell was frequent đŸ˜•
Beautiful location and wonderful views plus stars at night. Cost was $11/night with our Access pass. Would have been $22 per night without.

This is just one of a number of campgrounds basically in a row on this road. We had a view of the lake and a nice afternoon breeze. The campground water is good. The pit toilet closest to us was below average on the disgusting scale. There are a wide variety of site sizes. Some pull through.

First thing don’t believe the space length that they say for their site. I reserved site six and it was for a 30’ trailer which was not the case. It might have been okay for a 24’ trailer. The roads getting are good except for the last 400’ into the campground. If it’s wet you will need 4 wheel drive to get out with your trailer.

This place is beautiful! A little off the beaten path but worth it. No RV or electric hook ups in our campsite, but a beautiful view of the lake and easy access to fishing. Wi-Fi was OK.
