Confirmed by 3 users | Last reported on August 01, 2022Staff were very friendly and helpful. Gravel site was well kept and spacious. Site backed up to another site with no barrier or shrubs so not a lot of privacy. Bath, showers, and laundry were very handy and clean. Dog run is a pretty private beach, but trail to get there is a little tricky. Location is close to many beaches. One nite ate at Salty Dog and had a nice dinner chowder was good and fresh halibut fish and chips was the best I've ever had with fresh French fries. Service was very good even though they were busy. Place fits the area like it used to be the fishermans watering hole. I would definitely go back to the KOA in Waldport.

It was great to finally get back out camping after being in COVID lockdown. We were able to get a spot (given site 20) at the Waldport KOA which is considered a Deluxe Full Hookup. I'm not quite sure what makes this a Deluxe when compared to the other sites. We assumed the view, made it Deluxe, based on the photos on the KOA website; nope, definitely not that. If you want a view, you need to be in site 23, 24 or 26-31.
We arrived to a sign saying that Curbside arrival (due to COVID and being after 5pm) should call a number. We called and it went to VM - we called again, straight to VM. We managed to figure out that there was a board with a welcome letter and our site number pinned to a wall around the corner from the office yet there was no sign posts advising of this. Had we not looked we would have been waiting for a return call; we stayed for 3 days but nobody has ever returned that call to see if we were able to get it figured out.
The campground itself is small but clean and within good distance of Newport and Yachats and is pet friendly. It has a good store with lots of items that you may need for your RV and camping supplies. WIFI was probably the best that we have encountered at a campsite over the past year. Close proximity to the office may have contributed towards that.
If you have a back-in spot, be prepared for having to navigate your neighbors tow vehicles sticking out into the main campground road; they don't have a choice though because the spots are very tight. So tight that after getting your trailer parked you only have a couple of feet until you are in your neighbors site. It doesn't leave room for using the picnic table and in our case, our fire pit was about 2ft away from the sewer line for site 19. Everybody we saw leave or arrive over the next 3 days commented on how "tight it is" and "there isn't much room for more than your trailer".
Was it great to get out camping again? YES! Would we come back to this campsite? Maybe but leaning towards NO. The campground staff were friendly and kept the campgrounds generally tidy and presentable, although there were a couple of beer cans in our site when we arrived. Personally, we would only come back if we were guaranteed a spot for 26-31. Maybe the management can differentiate those spots and charge a couple bucks more since they definitely have a better view than what we had even though we paid the same rate...that way you know you will get one of those sites.

The subject line says it all. Again, I should have researched each KOA more thoroughly before we left on our summer trip with our 10 yr old son in mind. We almost never stay at KOA's b/c of the price - but our son has been so patient about always "staying in nature" and this summer we decided to spoil our son with a (mostly) KOA experience. So, we were SUPER bummed to learn that this KOA has a playground....and that's about it! But, we were lucky enough to have gotten Site 21, which did have a peek-a-boo view of the Alsea Bridge! So, that was VERY cool! Sites 21-28/29 (can't remember) have THE VIEWS OF THE BRIDGE! No other sites do. The staff was SUPER friendly and they do offer free movie/DVD rental - so we took advantage of that! The store is also very cute and very well stocked! Checking in was super easy, the entire facility was VERY clean, and many sites have tall hedges providing privacy between sites. We would definitely stay here again, just know if you have kids: THERE AREN'T AMENITIES besides a playground.
