“for a perfect summer day!”

This campsite has a high reputation. It provides all the amenities one could possibly need while camping.  Established as an irrigation reservoir, this lake is a go to. Because of its size, Lyman Lake is one of the few bodies of water in northeastern Arizona with no size restrictions on boats. The west end of the lake is buoyed off and restricted as a no wake area (5 mph). This allows the angler a chance at a variety of fish without the proximity of speedboats and water-skiers. The fishery consists of walleye, channel catfish and largemouth bass. The large remainder of the lake is open for all other types of water sports.

Well managed and maintained state park C/G. Near town for shopping, plenty of high desert scenery and nice walking trails.

Some long termed campers working at nearby power plant and the rest are either tourists or recreational campers. Not very crowded in the spring.

Sites are asphalt, mostly level though some need more adjusting, side-to-side, than others. Some sites are full hookups (including sewer), others electric & water, and some non-hookup sites. They also have camping cabins, and open (non-specific) camping along the lakefront. No maximum RV length. The campground is well-kept and the sites are neat and clean; electrical boxes are newish and well-maintained.

Sites are on one side of a large lake. Sites 1-15 are nearer the lake on a lower level, sites 16-30 are on a higher level, providing a nice view (something you can’t see from the flat campground map). Not a lot of privacy between sites, but they all have nice shade ramadas that help. Sites 16 & 17 have the best views and the most privacy. There’s an easy-to-access dump station.

Restrooms are super clean, showers have OK water pressure. There are several short hiking trails around the camp, and one longer hike out to Rattlesnake Point ruins along a dirt road. There’s an on-site camp store with a few essentials, including ice and, interestingly, gas and diesel, cheaper than in town(!), which is about 18 miles away.

Alas, alas, there’s no WiFi, and cell service is non-existent. Even with a yagi antenna and booster, we were barely able to pick up a few bars of H+ with AT&T, absolutely nothing with Verizon. The ranger station/camp store has a cell booster that they say helps with Verizon, but it didn’t help me.

This Campground is nice to recharge your batteries from travel. Currently it is in the 30's at night and 70's during the day. There are few campers here. The hikes are nice and well groomed. I am in a water and electric only site with my trailer. However, there are a couple full hook up sites. St Johns and Springerville are just minutes away. There is gas in each location. The staff is nice and helpful. There is a small camp store with wood, water, and some food. I just came from the border where it was hot and dusty. This is a nice change. There are showers if you need them. The petroglyphs are cool to see as you can get very close.

The cell coverage changes based on your location within the grounds. I am able to stream Netflix and Apple TV without much interruption.

This is a very well kept park. The sites are roomy and have a private ramada with nice picnic table. There is a nice little general store on site. Hiking is good and if you have a kayak or small boat, you will probably have more fun. Bathrooms and showers were very clean. The water level is very low. I would love to see it when (and if) it fills again. If your looking for a place to just chill for a few days, this is it. Bring some DVD,'s for the kids. No local TV stations. Very spotty WiFi and cell service with TMobile. Seemed to change with time of day. We have a cell booster but no WiFi booster. Its a bit of a drive to stores of any size so bring everything you need. Bring your own drinking water too.

We really enjoyed our two nights stay. The stars are beautiful at night. It was very quiet as there was only a few people there. Quick walk or drive to the lake no matter which campsite you stay at. We stayed at site 42 and loved it! The only thing I was disappointed in was some of the trails were closed off for the winter, and we didn’t know it until we had walked all the way up to the gate. Just keep that in mind during the winter, some of the restrooms are closed and some of the dumpsters are closed. We didn’t mind walking the extra walk, but some people might. Like mentioned before the water is not for drinking at this time due to iron in it, but we bring our own bottled water. It didn’t bother us, but it may bother others. We loved hearing the coyotes late at night. We are definitely going to stay here again!

This was a nice away from everything lake park. Our pull through campsite had all hookups, a bbq, a fire ring and a Ramada with table. The lake water was low in October so it was quite a walk down to it. The hike to the petroglyphs was very nice and worth the short hike. Bathrooms and showers were clean. We got lucky and had a beautiful rainbow and sunsets while there.

Site was good - on cement slabs which were level. We had a view of the lake which was really nice. However... it rained the entire time we were there - the views would have been really nice if it hadn't been for that slight issue. Dump was on site - we had a 50amp hookup and water (which we didn't use because it smelt like sulfur) - we had filled our fresh tank at the previous park we were at. Verizon service was decent. We could stream Netflix which I'm very glad since it was a rainy weekend. AT&T barely got 3G. We got 1 bar of LTE with our booster but it was still very slow.

I didn't use any of the facilities so I'm not much help on that but they did have them.

Overall, it was nice. Definitely would've been much nicer if the sun were out! But I would stay again.

Best Arizona State park we have stayed in. It is clean and well kept up. The campsite (number 1) we were in was spacious with full hookups and a large covered patio with a lake view.
We were in a Bighorn 5th wheel.

This is the second Arizona State campground we have stayed in during our Arizona tour and they were both really nice. The heated bathrooms with free hot showers was fantastic! With cold weather out having a heated bathroom and really hot water was a real luxury.

All sites were spacious and paved. Park was well maintained and even during the off season rangers were very active and crews were using downtime to upgrade campground such as bathroom fixtures in men's restroom.

There were a few hiking trails but not extensive, the petroglyph trail was fantastic and only a mile or so to do all the trails on the promontory. As we were there during cold season no real lake activity going on.

There were only 4-5 other campers there during our stay. Great stopover point we would definitely recommend.

No T-Mobile cell service at our site but roaming access down at camp store.
