Confirmed by 2 users | Last reported on October 24, 2023This is close to home, so it was an ideal spot for our first trip with the new trailer. It has back in/ pull through spots. It is first come, first serve parking. There is an honesty box at the entrance that you make payment through once you get settled in a spot. 30/50 amp plus 2 110 outlet connections on each pad. Water connections but no sewer. There is a dump station on the way out. The spots have scarce trees between you and the neighbors, but the personal areas are decent sized. Easy walk to the boat ramp, fishing dock. Patrolled frequently by Mccloud PD. Overall we had a great stay and will definitely be back. Only down side is leveling out at some sites. I dont know about the cleanliness of the bathrooms, we used the one in the trailer. The park itself was very clean.

We were looking for a place to spend the night, and found this reservoir! Highly recommend! Beautiful Lake, boat ramp, full hooks ups, drive thru parking as well as back up parking for RV’s and full area for tents as well. Bathrooms aren’t very nice, but for $10 you can’t go wrong!

Camped 10/19/20 (Mon), electric & water site. Wes Watkins is a large city park with a big boat launch, fishing piers, a number of picnic areas, a beach and the campground areas. We tried walking the dog over to the beach area from the beach's parking lot, but there were so many burrs, we had to turn back. Don't walk your dog here or go barefoot to the beach! The RV campground is nice and park-like (didn't notice burrs in the grass by our site), with a good mix of sun and shade and some space between sites (minimal privacy). There are both pull-throughs and back-ins, and the park is conveniently located near I-40.
While the campground was well kept, the bathrooms were not. Dirty, no doors or even a curtain for privacy in either of the toilet stalls and showers. The toilets look like they came from prison.
RV campground is laid out in a big loop with one-way roads going inside the loop, all paved. Unfortunately camping here is not by the lake, but further back in the park. There are picnic tables on cement pads, grill, but no fire ring. Levelness varies; our pull-through site was fairly level. No trash cans in the campground (although there was one in the bathroom), but dumpsters in certain spots in the park. There are a lot of signs ("No Alcoholic Beverages Allowed including beer"!) and warnings of citations given if you break the rules.

Our first stay at Wes Watkins Campground was two years ago. It's still the same well mowed and maintained place it was then. The bath house still needs attention, but in this age of Covid, we use our RV facilities only.
The main difference between now and then is that more RVers have discovered it. We arrived around 3 p.m., and it was less than half filled. Two years ago, we were the only campers.
It has asphalt sites, not all totally level, with 50 and 30 amp. and water, pull through or back-in, shaded or more open, for $25 a night. Pay at a kiosk you pass on the way in. Pick your site first, then return to fill out the envelope, and insert cash or check, no cards.
It's next to a reservoir, well used for fishing and kayaking. The City of McLoud manages the campground, and the city police patrol it frequently. It feels safe.
A Fireside Express market is a short drive away. It sounds like a mini-mart, but it actually is much larger and has all the groceries, beverages or fuel you might want. We stopped on our way out to support McLoud businesses for making the park available.

We stopped here on a weekday. The campground is about a quarter full. Everyone is spread out, so lots of elbow room. Campsites are nicely spaced and the campground has many trees, but it is open and grassy so not a lot of privacy when full. The lake is scenic and has a nice area for swimming, although we didn't swim.
The only negative as mentioned in other reviews are the restrooms. They look dirty and are very unappealing. I would only recommend staying here if you have your own bathroom.
We had a very pleasant, quiet and enjoyable stay. We would be happy spending multiple days here.

Oh my, what a wonderful park. We backed into a forest of oak trees, none overhead to interfere with solar. It was beautiful and quiet. Hardly any other campers there by Sunday night. Would we stay again? Heck yes.
Picnic tables for each site, no sewer but an easy drive through dump and dumpsters, very clean park with unobtrusive attendants. This , with east drives to the air force base planes open to the public ( we were the only ones there) and the fabulous Cowboy museum is a dream come true.

Nice spot to stay the night, more if wanted. We found a shady spot. We did have problems leveling side to side but if we had extra block would have been perfect. The RV campground is on the back side of the park. No water views. There is a separate tent only area with water views. We did not access the restroom/bathhouse so no report for that. We would stay here again. About 10 minutes off I-40.

Just needed an overnight stay in our commute to CA. This place is perfect for that. Clean, trees, quiet, water & electric and a dumping station. Had no problem getting Verizon cell service. Bathrooms are typical park bathrooms -very basic but functional. No appearance of long term residents (no junked up sites). Very nice lady on the phone. Very nice grocery store a couple miles away.
Be aware, though, CASH or CHECK only. You get an envelope on the way in, put your payment in it and out it in the slot. First come, first serve - choose your own spot.

Its a minor drive off 40 to get here but we felt well worth it. $25 a night, large sites. Beware, some sites with hookups on opposite side of coach. Well manicured park, lots of sites, near the lake. Overall a great pick, restrooms/showers were, well, sketchy. That's our only complaint. Would absolutely stay here again.
