One word, Magical. We have wanted to see the synchronized fireflies for numerous years now. Every year, we would enter the lottery, year after year unsuccessfully. The 2024 peak firefly viewing was estimated to be the first week of June. Once again, we failed to win a pass in the lottery. Determined to see this natural phenomenon, we were able to reserve a campsite at Elkmount Campground for Memorial Day 2024, just days before the scheduled peak. Hoping for the best, we headed to Tennessee. We were not disappointed. The Firefly show we were able to witness was nothing short of specular! Pictures and literature can not capture the wonder and awe of this natural occurrence. If you have considered this adventure, I would recommend adding this to your bucket list!
I want to add that the Park Rangers and the staff were very accommodating and friendly, which helped to make the overall experience perfect!
