“A campsite with many ammenities”
Overview Timber Creek Campground is located in Duck Creek Basin, high on the Schell Creek Range, in eastern Nevada. It sits at an elevation of 8,500 feet, approximately 25 miles from the small city of Ely. Visitors to the area enjoy hiking, horseback riding, fishing and off-road vehicle riding, among other activities.Recreation Timber Creek is a perennial stream with rainbow and brook trout fishing. The High Schells Wilderness can be accessed from a trailhead located a half-mile up the road from the campground. The partially paved, 38-mile Success Loop Scenic Drive is in the area, with views of the surrounding high desert and mountain terrain.Facilities The campground has six group campsites, two of which can accommodate up to 100 people. The other four sites can hold up to 50 people each. Some sites require a short walk from the parking area, on a bridge over Timber Creek, to access the site pad. All sites have picnic and serving tables, a campfire ring, grill and cement pads. Vault toilets and drinking water are provided. This is a "pack it in, pack it out" site, with no trash collection service.Natural Features The campground is situated in a dense forest of Engelmann spruce, aspen and white fir trees, which offers partial shade and beautiful fall color. Timber Creek flows past the campground. Nearby Attractions Ward Charcoal Ovens State Park is a few miles southeast of Ely, providing an opportunity to see interesting historic stone ovens and hike an interpretive trail. The Northern Nevada Railway in Ely has a museum and offers train rides. Cave Lake State Park is a few miles south of Duck Creek Basin along the Success Loop Road.

Awesome camp sites and gorgeous views! A few streams in area and some atv and hiking trails. Larger campers(30’+ in size) are difficult to get in but can be done.

CG was redone in 2019 to be 5 group sites and 6 individual sites. Group site A is a loop off the road with 5 long picnic tables and a little playground; very private. Group sites B, C and D are bunched together by the bathroom; some parking off the road. Group site E is further up the road, a little separate, but parking is across the road from the site (not so good for RVs). Six individual sites are further up in a loop off the main road, with their own bathroom. Group sites can be reserved online; individual sites not. Group sites seem smaller (can accommodate fewer individuals) than online info suggests. Group site A, e.g., could seat max 50 people, accommodate ~10 cars/RVs, but only saw 1-2 good tent sites.
Area is beautiful. Two hiking trails from the end of the road (about 1.5 miles from CG), leading up through aspen forest, ponderosa pines, then tundra to peaks of the High Schells Wilderness area. ATV trail paralleling mountain range about .5 miles before you get to CG. Good hiking in neighboring drainage (Berry Creek) as well.

Nice campground along Timber Creek. 11 sites- 5 group sites and 6 FF sites. (It's possible Sites 1 & 2, being so close to the group sites, may be less quiet than the rest of the sites. We used Site 6 and it was very quiet.) No Verizon service whatsoever. Clean. Didn't use restrooms, as we were using our TT, so can't comment on that. A few water spigots spaced throughout the campsites. Lots of bees and some biting flies when we were there in July, but not too bad and the bees were not aggressive. About 4 miles of "washboard" dirt road to traverse before you reach the campground. That being said, we really enjoyed our stay.
