Confirmed by 2 users | Last reported on April 06, 2022We have a 27ft trailer and we shouldn't have tried to fit into this park. It took about 30 minutes to get to our site because we couldnt get around the corners of the loop (we had to stop and back up a few times). Then when we found a spot, we were so close to the trees, we couldnt open the windows or the awnings, and we had to park the truck at the park office. The sites are really large, but they have specific areas within the sites for you to park that are blocked off. Its TIGHT in this park! Otherwise, its gorgeous!

The roads ARE small, but we made it in with our 27' Airstream with little problems. Our space was big enough that we could open our awnings, stretch out a little, and had plenty of room to play. There were other sites in the area that looked just as good. This was our favorite campground of all the places we stayed or saw in the Redwoods. It was beautiful!
We had enough Verizon coverage for Sam to get work done.

Can't beat the experience of camping among these giant redwoods. Its a very tight squeeze through the campground. Our 28' airstream made it but we walked the loop first and sized out the site. Sites are generously sized and include picnic tables / fire pits. The bathrooms were clean and there were showers ($0.50 for 2 minutes). You don't get a lot of sunshine through the redwoods so solar power is not ideal in this park. No hookups.

We pulled into this campground with no reservations on a Saturday morning.I think we got away with it because it was early June. We have a 30ft motorhome which is pushing the limits of this campground. When we asked about a space, the ranger coming in on shift change just said "no" for our size while the ranger about to leave told us the spaces that we could fit. They try to keep the larger rigs to the first loop, so they don't have the narrow twisty roads. We walked around and picked 15 for the night knowing we'd have to move the next day no matter what we chose.
Make sure to have your toad hooked up when you pull in, so you don't have to pay an extra vehicle fee. We unhooked right inside the campground and getting around the loop in our mh proved to be rather easy. I think the airstreams below have more trouble because of the length of the truck and trailer combined. 15 was relatively easy to get into and was right next to the showers. They next day, we moved to 56 which seemed a bit narrow with a tree on either side, but we backed in without too much trouble and then had an awesome spot with lots of trees around making it feel private. 53 looked like it would work, too, and we saw a 33ft mh in spot 30 in the back. Most of the other campers were in small class Cs or tents.
Don't expect to use your solar here as you're sitting below all the redwoods, but that's what makes it so special. You're right in the middle of the forest and it's a good spot to see the rest of the park and explore all the kitschy Avenue of the Giants stops.
We were able to use both Verizon and AT&T here pretty well. One star deducted for access because it's easy to find the place, but harder to get around the campground. Two stars deducted on noise because we had a dozen kids screaming and playing from 7am-10pm on 2 nights (our first night was very quiet). It's a state park in summer, so expect it.

In the Burlington campground you are literally camping among Giants. It's a busier campground, especially with tent and van campers, less so with larger trailers for obvious reasons - the loops are extremely tight. We managed to squeeze through the loops at the very back of the campground, but likely only because we have a (relatively) small tow vehicle.
If you have a longer trailer, you're best to stick with the front loop and not the loop at the back due to two extremely tight turns between trees.
If you're relying on solar, don't expect much, we needed to be the only one in the campground running a generator (sorry!).

Came in an hour before sunset and was lucky to get a space. Perfect space for our tent trailer. Redwoods awesome to camp in. Mostly tent campers here so for us, perfect.

Quite campground nestled among huge old redwood stumps and their surrounding fairy rings of newer trees. This campground has some tight turns between the trees. We stayed in the first loop, as recommended, with our 27’ Airstream. We spotted some corners just to be sure. Site 18 was large enough for our set up, we pulled into an empty site so we could back in. Site 17 would have been big enough as well. I don’t think we would have wanted to attempt the tight corners around the back loop even though there were a few sites big enough for us.
There are no hookups in the campground. Our site was a level dirt site, there are a couple of cement pad sites in the campground. There are coin showers available and both the showers and restrooms were well kept.
The campground is right across the street from one of the groves and next to the Visitor Center along the Avenue of the Giants. There is access to a swimming hole on the Eel River across the street as well.
There is no dump station in the campground. The campground volunteer told us that the Shell Station in Fortuna would let us dump for free if we showed our registration ticket. When we arrived however the dump station was out of order, so we found a free dump station at a rest stop further north on 101.

Camper size limit is 24 ft but we squeezed in with a 26 ft airstream and saw a 30 ft motor home make it in so the rules are relaxed, but know that the sites are small. This campground is nestled in the redwoods so very shady and quiet. The kids enjoyed climbing on the redwood stumps. Thankfully we got a spot without a reservation. Bathrooms are nice, flushing toilets and there are showers but we didn’t use them. Large fire pit, picnic table, and life jackets available for water sports/swimming. Overall a really great campground!

We hadn’t planned on spending the night here but we fell in love with the Avenue of the Giants! This really is a magically spot and the woodsy smell is something I wish I could bottle! The Humboldt Park Rangers at the campground were awesome and we just fit the Airstream in their biggest spot. The fire pit was great and we bought firewood from the office. There are good walking trails all around, an education center and a gift shop right next door. We will be back! Happy travels!

Road tripping in the Northern California redwoods and this is one of the few state parks open in January. Lovely setting among the trees, bathrooms well lit day & night, pretty clean, lots of toilet paper, no soap, hand sanitizer or towels to dry your hands though. Half the bathrooms were closed for repair but no big deal since the campground was not crowded. They do have pay showers but we did not make use of them. Each space had a food storage locker to keep bears out and a fire ring. Fire wood is sold at the registration area. Water spigots are interspersed throughout the campground.
Would have been a 5 star rating but Burlington is close to the highway so you can hear cars and big rigs going by. Fell asleep to the sounds of an owl hooting in between the car noises though!
