This is an Army Corps of Engineers park. First of all, the price is the Senior rate under the "America the Beautiful" national park pass. So that is part of the 5 stars! Granted, we did not score a full hook up site, but we thought it was well worth the sacrifice of watching our water and using the bathhouses. This park is so easy to get into and to find now that we learned the area. We had a disaster when we stayed down the road at Hillman Ferry Campground. They didn't honor the America the Beautiful pass for some reason.
Anyway, we loved our reception, not only as we checked in, but the deer were out to great us as well! We commented we were so glad we had a sewered lot reserved - only to be told it wasn't sewered. Our initial site was #90. The sewered lots are 91-96. Long story short, she was so very helpful! We stayed on that site one night and then learned the "ropes" on how to get a better site, a walk on. Not all the sites are level, btw. But both of our were, which is mandatory in our 40' motor home.
These spots get booked up, so best to just get in the park for a few days on maybe a less than desirable site and then go on the hunt for a great walk on site. You have to be first come first serve there and it is a bit of a game. Possession is the law....you have to leave a chair, or in our case, we put our car on the site we wanted when we saw the people getting ready to vacate it.
There was so much to do and see! We wrote a few posts in our blog about it.
The only negative is that this is really more of a locals campground. Not every one was friendly and there is a bit of an attitude to outsiders.....but we still made friends there with other "outsiders!"
The only negatives are that it is a shame they didn't make more sewered lots. But the dump stations were easy access. And we couldn't get a satellite signal for our Direct TV. We had shows taped and just kept busy!

This is one of the nicest campgrounds in the Land Between the Lakes area

However, it is suffering from deferred maintenance both in the facilities and the roads. About half of the campground is not suitable for big rigs like ours because the sites are either too short, too skinny, or not level.

Many of the sites are shaded by large trees and have lake views.

The length of the site was large enough to easily fit our motorhome and tow vehicle.

I needed a quick place off the interstate on our way up to SD and this one looked like it fit the bill. It's about 5 miles off the interstate but it's a quick straight shot and is very accessible for a quick stop. I noticed when I made the reservation that they had "full price" and "primitive" sites. What surprised me was that their primitive sites still had water and electric. I didn't need anything fancy for one night so we picked one of these.

Surprisingly, our primitive site was beautiful. The loop we were in was definitely a little older, hillier and run down than the premium loops, but we lucked out with a very large and flat site facing the water. The sites in this loop were a mixed bag. Some were great, others were trash.

The other loops were really nice. The mid-50s have a huge "yard" that leads right down to the swimming area and the playground. If you have kids, pick this loop.

The 100s loop was really cool. It's pretty separate from the rest of the campground and shares a nice grassy area in the middle of all the sites. There're nice views of the lake here and sitting areas overlooking the lake. Very peaceful area of the CG.

Overall, great CG, consistent with what I've come to expect from COE campgrounds. We saw 2 skunks and some deer. CG hosts were very pleasant. Bathrooms seemed clean and well-kept. I'd stay here again in a heartbeat for a night or two.

Nice level site with a great view of Lake barkley. Shower houses are cleaned very well. Some sites do offer sewer but nothing lake side. There are several trails that I would say are guaranteed to see some wildlife, especially deer. Located to so many things and just across Canal connecting Land Between the Lakes which offers an abundance of activities (Nature Center, planetarium, Homeplace Settlement, Elk and Bison Range, and far many more). Also on the edge of a golf cart friendly town Grand Rivers. Make sure to visit Green Turtle Bay Marina and eat waterside at the Thirsty Turtle

A lovely campground just outside the north end of Land Between the Lakes. As cyclists, we were especially pleased by the great roads for miles of virtually traffic-free riding. Granted, it was during the week, in October. Weekends would likely be different!

This campground was a very nice wooded campground right on the lake. Most of the loops had roomy sites although the BRPT (I think this stands for Brown Point) as those sites seemed much closer together. Verizon had great service (25+ Mbps DL/10+ Mbps UL speeds.

We were in site 69 in the Hill loop. Sites are spacious in this loop. Campground is clean, staff friendly. Quick check in. Only wish we had better access to the water for fishing. Had to drive to the boat ramp and dock to fish. Some sites are on the water, will definitely try to snag one of those next trip.

We'll maintained and quiet campground. Sites are well spaced apart and offer decent privacy. There were several campers with golf carts so I imagine it is popular with people who live relatively close.
My wife and I visited the National Quilt Museum in Paducah and I was very impressed by it. I expected it to be a couple of hours of boredom but found the artistry, quality, and workmanship to be amazing. Well worth a visit if you're in the area.

I had to change my plans, so when I saw this campground on my trajectory, I also noticed this walk-in site on the water. Sites are level and spacious. Wish they didn't have the metal railings on each site. This site looks out to the bigger lake but also looks at the beach. So had to listen to kids playing, splashing and hollering for awhile... no problem other than it wasn't conducive for an afternoon nap. My $15 rate is with my federal senior pass.

Awesome COE on lake Barkley in Kentucky. Only stayed here two nights due to reservations in Nashville. We love the park, very clean and neat. The sites are clean and well maintained. Some have an upward and downward slopes which level out on the pad. We had an awesome site overlooking the lake and swim area.
