We choose this campground as an overnight between Memphis and Vicksburg. Because we enjoy driving off interstate it worked out, but realistically this is not on the way to anywhere. We were here on Nov 1 and there were only a dozen or so other campers. Several of them were long term as they had rigid pipes to sewer hookups. Only a few of the sites are water front/view, but the water was low and most of those overlooked dry beds. Not all sites were level. Bathhouse was heated and spotless. Verizon signal was weak to non existent on the road getting there, but at our site were had no trouble accessing internet. I can’t remember our site number - I think it was 70 something - was right next to the bathhouse in the center loop. This was self pay at this time of year, so bring either your checkbook or exact change. We paid the Senior Pass rate.

I worried about getting here the Saturday of Labor Day weekend. Nervous enough, that I emailed asking if there was a phone number to call to ensure there would be open spots. The response was that the fee station was not manned and there wasn't anyone to call BUT there would definitely be spots available.
Having never been here before, we were immediately faced with a decision to go left or right after the fee station. We picked right and drove a ways until we got to the point at the water. As expected, they were all full. We headed back and decided to go down a road that had a tiny looking loop at the end. Unfortunately, where a tree was growing- I couldn't swing as wide as I would have liked. My wheels came off of the pavement and down into a 18" or so depression. I ended up having to back out of the loop and up the road a bit. We took the first suitable spot from there (#47). Turned out to be nice any way.
After dropping the camper, we took just the truck for a drive around the other campsites (and another COE campground just down the road). We came to another loop with a bunch of people that would have been uncomfortable to navigate with a big rig.
So, just be careful where you commit to especially while the campground is still on a first come, first serve basis (which they had a sign saying that was due to the Recreation.gov website mess).
Overall, the campground was beautiful. Spacious spots with water + electric. The dump-station and dumpsters are centrally located near the fee station. There were a couple of spots that had the water hookups immediately behind the spot, preventing you from backing up and overhanging the rear of the spot.
Getting there- going past the dam overflow was a little cozy with a curve. We just timed it so that there weren't cars coming the other way.
And the rest of the "project" (aka improved areas around the lake) were all very nice. Couple of nice playgrounds that the kids enjoyed.

Currently walk in only, reservations via rec.gov have been suspended. Very nice campground, rolling hills, 30/50 amp service with water at site on Lake Arkabutla. Close to Hernando, Mississippi.

Site 19 is a partially-shaded waterfront site nicely spaced from its neighbors. This section of the park has many large sites on the water. Other campers had boats moored right at their site. Our concrete pad was level; others may not be. Our section of the park was nearly full on the weekend of 6/13/20. Even so it was quiet and campers were friendly.
The park itself is spacious and well-maintained. The area/lake is popular for both shore and boat-based fishing. There are lots of gentle roads for running and biking.

There are very few sites with sewer, but there are so many restrooms / showers that you can work around that. Tmobile coverage sucked but ATT coverage good for data Will be back.

Beautiful campgrounds! Quiet and lots of spots to choose from. Easy to back right in and level sights.
Picnic tables, grill and prep area at each site.
Only issue and it’s a biggie, power was very weak at our site. A/c and fridge won’t run at the same time. This is a major issue. Don’t think we’d come back for that reason . That’s a shame because it’s one of the nicest parks we’ve been to.

We spent a week enjoying the peaceful park. Our site was level but only one bar of AT&T service and needed to use WeBoost.
We were close enough to Hernando to get shopping done but felt far enough away.

This is a great place and I highly recommend it. Great views, large sites, well maintained. Its easy to social distance and the bathhouse has great water pressure and hot water. It was difficult to locate the campground for us so do some research before following your GPS and then try to figure it out ;)
