Although this is just a few miles off the US50, you feel like you are really in the wilderness. We stopped here for just one night while making our way across Utah from Nevada to Colorado. It was such a pleasant surprise to find such a scenic spot to spend the night.

On a weekday in July we found the campground completely empty and had our pick of spots, all of which are paved and fairly level. The sites are well separated; some have amazing views of the valley floor, other are densely wooded. We picked a site at the top of the campground that had wonderful red rock views and was huge so we could just stay hitched up overnight.

With a booster we had 2 bars of Verizon LTE, consistent enough to stream TV.

This is your run of the mill USFS camp with a narrow loop circling through the trees, offering a collection of various sized back ins and a few pullthrus, many suitable enough for larger travel trailers or campers, although the campground road may be a little tight to navigate for larger rigs. Some of the sites are downright huge. Spaces are far enough apart to provide privacy and the trees give an extra barrier.

I arrived on a Thursday afternoon and the camp was nearly full with mainly tent and car campers, so I thought it was going to be very loud seeing all the tents and kiddos running around, but it was nearly silent at night, which was pleasant.

It's a very pretty campgeund, with a creek and excellent views or secluded spots. Unfortunately, it's a little trashy. My firepit was full of used paper towels and maybe even a little toilet paper...some had blown around the site and required a little picking up. The fire pit at the site next to me was full of eggshells. One further down had full trash bags in it. Host site was messy with a rundown camper and various bottles of condiments stewn about.

My site was not level front to back or side to side but was just long enough so I didn't have to unhitch. My site was pea gravel, not paved as the previous review states.

Also, note that the previous review based their Verizon signal on booster speed. Without a booster, you will experience short periods of slow 4g, paired with long periods of no service. Also, this campground provides very little sun, if any, depending on your site, so solar is difficult.

There is a large pull off just before the campground that seems like a better bet, if you are ok with free range cows roaming your site. You can boondock there with a forest adventure pass and it is in a large clearing with lots of sun and privacy.

Overall, it's fine-- great for families camping in tents-- didn't suit my purpose very well. Would have been better off not paying $15 and just using the 'rest stop' (aka flying j) in Scipio.

It was so windy driving that we decided against driving all the way to Great Basin NP and by chance saw Maple Grove sign... so glad we did! We had the whole campground to ourselves! Our dogs loves the spot we picked as they ran wild and enjoyed every min. We had a campfire and enjoyed a very romantic dinner outside. There aren’t any hookups and the water was turned off but there dwere bathrooms. There was a cute stream that ran through the campground! Highly recommend staying there if you have time and need to break up a drive.

Second time staying here. The first was in a tent and the second in a travel trailer. Both times our stay was quiet and we basically had the campground to ourselves. From what I remember there were no hookups.

Any spot you choose is wonderful. There are sites next to the creek, some have views of the surrounding area, and all are at the base of a mountain/cliff. $15 for a site, but there is a discount if you have one of the annual Interagency passes.

A walk down the road that leads up to the campground reveals other sites that look as if they have been occupied in the past. Probably over the winter months since the gates to the main campground are closed. Past one of these sites is a small trail that winds along next to the creek. Beautiful.

Cell service is minimal and varies from site to site. We were able to get one where we had 1 or 2 bars of service. Sites are level, at least the two that we chose.

The campground is a little out of the way, but worth it.

Watch out for cattle on the road at night!

This may be the best campground we have ever been in. Many of the sites have their own access to the stream - ours even had a swing. I was able to dunk myself in rushing cold water in preparation for the Loneliest Road the next day. We were there at the end of September and the leaves were red, orange and yellow. On one side the red cliff wall rises right up from the campground. On the other side the sage slopes forever down into the valley. Dozens of wild turkeys in the campground. Lots of privacy between sites (although one degenerate ran his generator too much - thanks for sharing! Get a battery pack!).

Hint: even if you don't find the stream-side site you want, try the one on the down hill/open field side - the view over the valley is astounding and quite private. Hint #2: the sites at the back of the campground are for groups, BUT if not reserved you are free to use. Site #2 is to die for - right along the creek with its own little bridge. It doesn't get any better than this.

We stayed here for one night. Camped in #18. Camp was good and clean with good shade. I wouldn’t recommend the spots on the east side of the road (I think they were #19, #17, and #15). The spots on the west side of the loop looked really nice and had good shade.

We arrived at 9pm, and have a truck camper, it was a back in that was great for quick set up. Mostly bumper pulls, you might get a small 5th wheel in but was built in the 30’s by CCC, campsites close together, but beautiful

We found this place on this website and we have never been here but we had to find a place from the heat 103 degrees and it was Labor Day weekend. So driving East on HWY 50 from I-15 you drive about 15-20 miles and along a beautiful 2 lane road and you looked towards the South at the mountains and it doesn't seem that a campground is there. Then you turn on to the road leading up to the campground and all you see is fields that marry into Maple Tree groves and there you have it, it's a first come first serve, no power but there is fresh water and vaulted toilet. There's a stream that runs on the edge of the campground covered by Maple Tree so, head on down and enjoy. Very clean, quite and we felt safe enough to leave our doors open. I wouldn't recommend anything over 32-36 ft and there is very little cell service or wifi.

We camped on Friday, Sept 18,2020. Pandemic and wildfire summer. The maple leaves were changing red, the stream was still flowing strong. It’s at about 6000 feet elevation, 15 miles from I-70, and 20 minutes. Paved roads. There are no trash cans, pack it all out. There is water and rest rooms. I loved the campground. We arrived about 4:00 pm and were able to get a campsite, but one late arrival had to use an overflow lot just outside the campground. This area might be extra busier right now due to heavy smoke out west....seems kind of out of the way, to be that busy.
