The spots right on the lake look nice our site is a short downhill walk to the water. Sites have fire rings, Lantern poles, picnic tables and a small table for a grill to sit on. Bathroom are clean and neat with flush toilets and hot showers. Some sites are on hills. Site 23 is fairly level. They have 50 amp power and some sites have sewer hookup. Roads are narrow coming in to the park.

This campground is very convenient for an overnight stop off I 24. It’s part of the Land Between the Lakes. We were fortunate to book a site right on the water. We were entertained by tugs pushing barges on the far side of the lake. The camp hosts were extremely friendly and helpful. They even called us the night before our arrival to say that they wouldn’t be there when we arrived. They gave us specific directions to the campground and told us to proceed to our site. They would catch us later to complete the check in process. T-Mobile cell service was minimal and spotty. All else was what you come to expect from the Corps campgrounds. Excellent! Oh my- the perfect place to hunker down for the July 4th holiday weekend.
We tend to avoid camping during popular times but this year, it couldn’t be avoided. But we really hit the jackpot in finding this little gem.
It’s a small campground with great views of the lake even if you aren’t on a lake side site. One way traffic helped reduce the noise and for whatever reason this section of lake Barkley is not preferred by boaters so it was quiet. Bath house was above average clean and I saw crews routinely keeping it looking good. Location was centralized so if you forgot something, stores were not too far of a drive.
Perfect in almost every way I can think of!

Upon arrival, the hosts were incredibly friendly and helpful. Our site had a ditch on the driver’s side of the one-way road and they provided perfect info on making a safe back-in approach. Our site (#19) was very nice, just a slightly deceptive approach angle.
Once set-up, we enjoyed the park-like setting with a HUGE campsite with a nice fire pit, picnic table, grill table, 20/30/50 amp power, water, and steps down to the edge of the lake. We could here and see geese, herons, an osprey and what sounded like an eagle, but was never seen. The frogs and crickets sang into the night and the trees provided some shade from the heat. And did I mention how nice the host were? They even stopped by to offer me a ladder when I was doing some maintenance on our camper. The worst part of our stay is it was too short.
The only road to the campground is a bit narrow and twisty, but manageable with minimal pucker-factor. Once in the campground, you pass the dump station to your right, then SLOW DOWN for the speed bump. It sneaks up on you before the decent to the sites. I’d recommend the lakeside sites, which had mostly more gradual slopes and more room. 4-7 are a bit closer together and looked a bit smaller. The pull-through sites have a little tight radiuses with a trailer, but 11 & 15 are prime sites with your entire passenger side facing the lake and large campsite areas. 22-25 are all very nice, but 26 does have a pretty steep slope down, so may not be suitable for low-clearance rigs. 17-21 are all nice, but beware the ditch on the driver’s side. Take it slow and you should be good.
