Unfortunately, we did not have a good experience at the Lake George Escape RV Park. We made reservations three weeks in advance, and were careful to tell the representative that our Fifth Wheel is 13' 4" tall. We were assured that we would not have any issues (when speaking with the person making the reservation and a follow-up call to the campground office), with the interior roads, trees/branches, and the site assigned to us. Our first indication of trouble, was when we followed the campground's website directions from Route 87.... one of the roads had a weight capacity of 5 Tons (we assume that many RVs exceed that weight). Also, just before the campground entrance, is a bridge underpass with no height signs. In order to safely pass under that bridge, we had to travel very slowly on the shoulder, and still were close to hitting our roof air conditioner. When we went to the check in, and mentioned the road weight restriction and underpass, the employees indicated that we were only the first customers to mention the road weight restriction, and the second to mention the underpass height. Neither of these issues were mentioned in their directions. We asked to be taken to see our site, before we drove in with the RV. I asked what height the tree branches were cut to, and the employees did not have an answer. The tree branches that were over the interior road were at height of 10 feet (our estimate). The employees did try to find another site that could accommodate our RV, but the roads to this second site, also had low hanging branches, and the road width was tight. We observed that most of the RVs that were in the campground were significantly lower in height and shorter in length. We were refunded our money, and left through the exit (which also had a low hanging branch that scrapped across our solar panels).

We booked a premium site, and were placed in a tight shorter site backing up to the play field. I guess to some, this is premium location due to the proximity to the field, pool and restaurant (which is rarely open after Labor Day). It is also closer to the Interstate, so we could hear a lot of road noise. Try to get a site a bit further back from the entrance to avoid this if you can!
It was a little tight for us as we have opposing slides, but we made it work. It was sheltered under the pines, but the sap was dripping a lot (I guess that happens in fall?) so we now need to work on getting the sap off the roof.
Overall, there is a lot for families to do. I spent a lot of time running or walking the dogs around the large campground. It backs on to the river, so there are river activities available. There is a small beach as well.
One great amenity - for dog owners - the dog park! It is pretty new, and huge! We met up with friends a couple of times to run our dogs together and let them play in a nice big free running area. Great amenity for us, which is why I gave the campground 4 stars.
There is HEAPS to do in the area - in Glens Falls there are a couple of breweries and big stores like Target and Walmart. Lake George is obviously the main attraction. But there are heaps of hikes and drives to be had throughout the region.

We were very impressed and happy with this park and were glad we added The Trails Collection to our Thousand Trails membership so we could stay for free.

Getting there was pretty easy and it was close enough to the city of Lake George that we could drive into town for some basic shopping, gas, etc. The town is very much for tourists and parking in the town all costs money, so just be prepared for that.

Moving around in the park with the RV was not bad either. I see what the person in the other review means about the unmarked bridge as well as some low trees, but we have a rig a little bit bigger than they were talking about and we had no problems. We got put our in the purple area which was a bit too bad since the park was not busy and we ended up far away from all the action, but it was probably related to getting to stay for free. I do think they should label the bridge height but we are about 13'6" and did not have a problem. Slow down for speed bumps in park though, very large.

We were happy with the actual park amenities as well, even though we had to drive around in the truck to get to them. A small playground near us, a really large one in the middle, and even in late September, the pool was still open and slightly warmed (it was 80 degrees that day).

Unfortunately, most of the other activities were not open. We understand they cannot run it all the time, but we were hoping for things like a movie checkout or the kids to play in the arcade and they were not able to. No arguments with the rules they have in place based on not many people there, it was just too bad for the kids.

Huge dog park by the way - the puppy enjoyed it!

I was also really happy to see a good presence of maintenance people around fixing things up, doing landscaping, etc. Some older parks just get forgotten about, but it was nice to see them keeping it up.

We would stay here again for sure, the campground is really nice and we can see how on a weekend it would be very full and busy and even more fun.

This was our first Thousand Trails campground we stayed at after purchasing the Zone Pass, very impressive. It was off season and they were packing up for the winter.  We stayed here for 3 nights in the first part of October.  We had been driving around the Adirondacks and experiencing the fall colors, this place was a great location.

This campground has a lot to offer.  We were placed into the general area, a pine forest with a beautiful view of the mountains.  We got lucky with some late warm fall weather and used the heated pool, kids loved it.  The area around the pool looked fun even though it was closed, a full bar and cafe area. We used the tennis courts and biked around the grounds. They have couple of sites here and there throughout the grounds, around ponds and through wooded areas creating different spots to camp and very different experiences.

They didn't have any events but the schedule for the previous summer looked fun.  The area around the campground is beautiful and provides lots of hiking and sites to see.

We stayed over what looked like one of the busiest times of the year - weekend after July 4th. The park was packed to capacity and it showed. Our electricity kept going out due to 50 amp rigs drawing too much power from the 30 amp sites. That and there were soooo many people everywhere. To the park’s credit, they moved our site to a MUCH nicer area with no more power issues. Overall, the campground is what you’d expect from a resort. Pool, game room, small pond beach, boats for rent. The laundry rooms were closed due to vandalism. Ok if you like the big park feel but not our scene.

We have stayed here before - paid $0 through 1000 Trails - Trails Pass. Visiting family in the local area and taking care of doctor and dentist visits. We lived in this area for 30 years.

Campground is well managed with lots of things to do especially for teens and kids. They have a restaurant and bar on property near the pool area for the adults.

Bathrooms are well maintained along with the property in general. Might be one of the best Encore properties that I have stayed in so far. Quite a number of seasonal user and cabins. Route 87 NYS Northway is nearby so you do get a bit of road noise but not terrible.

Would highly recommend this place - I’m sure it’s very busy during July and August.

We stayed at site 29 for three nights. Upon arrival, we were surprised that the “river front” site we booked had no access, and no view of the river. Some sites have large signs threatening removal from the campground if you access the river through what is obvious paths. Other sites do not. Beware that if you book a “river front site” it is not, in fact, riverfront. We contacted the front desk and the staff member was rude and curt stating that we were on the river. Without access or a view, I beg to differ! With that aside, the site was nicely wooded and private. This campground is loud and noisy and if you have young children, I would highly recommend staying in the back half of the campground. Our site had a ton of trash on it when we arrived (tin foil on ground, trash in firepit, bottles of beer in woods, corn on the cob in woods). We asked a staff member to clean it up, which he did, but he did not appear happy about it.

The amenities of this campground are great, especially if you have kids! The restaurant is fantastic. We really enjoyed the pool area. I was disheartened to see the amount of trash all over the campground. We do a lot of walking with a young baby and would see the same trash there for days. Practically every site had trash on it. Due to COVID, the were a lot of vacant sites. In my opinion, there is no excuse for the amount of trash. Shame on the campers throwing stuff everywhere as well! There seems to be a general disregard for rules at this campground (and there are a lot of them) which tells me that the staff is either not present, or not enforcing rules. There are a ton of seasonal sites at this campground and parts of it can feel like a trailer park. Overall the experience was okay but we will not be returning.

So let me preface this review. We LOVE the Adirondacks! My cousin has a vacation home up in the Lake George area and I have been coming here for almost 20 years.
When my husband and I bought a TT this May to deal with Covid, we thought of course the ADK’s for a vaca!
In August we stayed just down the street from LGE, at Schroon River Escapes...omg 🤮. So while we were staying down the street we actually found out about this gem of a spot.
It’s huge! And everyone who worked there was so nice. They let us drive around to check it out. And clean! Super clean. I didn’t use the bathrooms as we are self contained, and honestly that’s whey we got a camper lol! So I can’t speak to the bathrooms. My husband said they were good but....he’s a guy so...
Ok...TIP!!! Call the campground directly to reserve your spot. That way you can have them suggest a location for your needs. DONT use the 800 number.
The campground was half full due to restrictions. So it felt nice and quiet to us even though we were on a holiday weekend. We arrived at 1 on a Friday and left around 11 on a Monday.
Now we had previously searched out the spot we wanted, S09. It was very quiet, right on the river and a large spot secluded from the other campers by trees and brush. Our TT is 21’ long and we had more than enough room.
The spot only had W/E/C. So if you need a full hookup then you will need another spot. We decided we wanted the seclusion and view which was amazing!!! There are gorgeous tent spots so take a look around if that’s your way of camping. We just dumped on the way out, NO line! 🎉
Oh, and they have a full bar and restaurant! Good drinks and food...and lots for the kids to do! We can’t wait to go back!
We did splurge and rent a golf cart and it was fun, but you don’t need it. We hope you love it too! Again, be picky about your spot!

I'll preface this by saying, we've been on the road full time for over two years and have stayed at quite a few campgrounds. So what we look for in a campground, isn't the same as someone who's just going out for the weekend.

In short, you couldn't pay us enough money to return here again.

We arrived in the afternoon on a Friday, and they placed us in between two cabins that were being rented. On one side there was a party of about 12 people, playing Latin pop. On the other side, a party of about 10 people playing reggae music. Even with our A/C on, the music and noise was relentless. You walked out into zero privacy, with each party just 15 feet away with no barrier in between.

We've never demanded to be moved before; we have pretty thick skin. But there was no way in the world we'd last here at this spot for the week, trying to work, and live a normal life.

They gave us a few options and thankfully we found a quiet spot in the 500 loop of the campground. No cabins here, just all RV'ers, which are generally respectful for the most part. The site wasn't level, was next to a stagnant pond, was infested with mosquitoes, but was better than where they stuck us before.

The rest of the week, generally speaking, wasn't bad in our section of the campground. But the whole place remained busy. It's SO LARGE and there are so many people. Lots of very, very loud music, lots of very large parties of people despite their "ban" on groups of 6 or more. They never enforced any of their rules.

In talking with management, they gave me the impression that there's nothing that they can do.

The place is just too big, and so their rules are unenforceable.

Lake George itself is beautiful, but packed with boats. There are some wonderful hikes in the area (Sleeping Beauty, and Shelving Rock), but for the love of all things don't head downtown into Lake George Village unless it's 5 AM. We tried, many times, to walk the shops but we could never find a place to park. Even at 10 AM the place was completely packed.

We have our own internet and it was bogged down at times (AT&T and Verizon both) but both generally held pretty well throughout the week (this campground offers no WIFI).

At any rate, take the review with a grain of salt and again, consider the source (full time rv'ers).
