The park is known for its deep-water marina and its water recreation sports, such as fishing and waterskiing. The park also attracts bird-watchers with the chance of seeing herons, egrets, and possibly bald eagles. The park is home to the Kirbo Interpretive Center, which teaches visitors about Native Americans and displays snakes, turtles, fish, and other artifacts from prehistoric times to the early 20th century. Located just 10 miles (16.09 km) southeast of the park is Providence Canyon State Outdoor Recreation Area.
Reviews
Almost forgot. Visit the Omaha Tap Room Brewery after hiking The Canyon. Great place. Friendly people, comfy, pets ok and great beverages!
Nice area. Close to Providence Canyon which is a must see. This park is not maintained as well as other GA State Parks we have visited. Bathhouse was not cleaned in the three days we were there. Nice drive through sites with full hookups. No trails to speak of.
We chose Florence Marina as a camping destination due to its proximity to Providence Canyon State Park (known as Georgia’s ‘Little Grand Canyon’), but we quickly learned that Florence Marina had a lot to offer itself!
