“Beautiful park with plenty of wildlife”

Montgomery Bell State Park is located seven miles east of Dickson in Dickson County. The park was once the center of iron industry in Middle Tennessee. The park’s namesake, Montgomery Bell, formed one of the largest iron industries in Tennessee. Iron was once thought to be more valuable than gold and was a very lucrative industry at the time. The site of the first Cumberland Presbyterian Church is also located at Montgomery Bell State Park. The church was founded in 1810 in the log cabin home of Reverend Samuel McAdow. A replica of the cabin and a church are located within the park. Montgomery Bell State Park is equipped with a conference center that can host up to 500 people. The onsite restaurant is open every day and available to cater events. Within the center, the inn offers 120 rooms and five suites. The park also has eight environmentally-friendly modern cabins available for rent.

We purchased our motor home just weeks prior to our trip to our stay at Montgomery Bell State Park. Reserving the spot online was simple and easy and the price extremely reasonable. I called a couple days in advance to see if there were any helpful hints they could give us due to my ignorance and the lady was extremely helpful! She made sure we did not follow our GPS due to it taking us up terrible windy roads that our motorhome would not have able to make. She also gave me an idea about the lot and how to back up into it and the locations of the trees. Once we arrived they were helpful and kind. Lot #1 was skinny and most of park was booked. Due to the freezing temperatures we were asked to shut down our water connection and disconnect at night. The bathhouses are clean and well place and lit. Overall my wife and two pups enjoyed our first ever trip in our Motorhome thanks to Montgomery Bell State Park.

It’s a quite little campground about 15 minutes outside Nashville. From I40 follow the brown state park signs; not wise to follow the GPS (quickest) directions in a big rig. It’s doable but hair raising. Lot smaller campground than the website talks about. They do have a lodge; cabins, golf course, restaurant, and then away from everything is the campground. Will definitely stay here again.

We were surprised at how loud the road noise was from the nearby highway. Also sites are very close together and campground was very noisy.

Nice location, but would not recommend it for anyone looking for a quiet place to camp.

This was our first stay here, and we had heard great things about it. It is a beautiful state park known as the "Queen of Tennessee's State Parks". There are 4,000 acres with mountain biking, fishing, hiking, picnic areas, kayaking/canoeing, and a golf course. Nashville is only 45 minutes away.
The campground was nice. Our site was tight, and we didn't have a lot of room for our truck. We had to move to a different site for the 3rd night and the water connection was quite a reach. The sites were mostly level and some were shaded. The bathhouse was clean and there was a laundry area with 2 washers/dryers. We did have a picnic table and fire ring. We had 2-3 bars of Verizon 4G. There was a playground for the kids. There is a small creek that runs along the western edge of the campground. We did spot some snakes (copperheads maybe?) near the creek.
There is a small camp store that had a few supplies, ice cream, ice & firewood. The employees were very nice. We would definitely stay here again.

Campground is fairly neat .
It is not very quiet, there is highway noise and helicopters fly over quite a bit.
Popular place, 3/4 full on a Thursday in April.

Loved this campground. We were able to back in close to the creek. One of the most scenic parks we have seen. This is a must see location and less than an hour from Nashville. Plenty of spaces to walk and a golf course in the park. Full hookups but hot spot was too weak to cast with Verizon. This is a great spot for a long weekend. Recommend staying 3 days for sure and enjoy the scenery and trails. They did a great job in designing this park.

The park itself is very large with many activities and some great trails to hike. Also close to Dickson, TN where there is a Walmart and other stores. As noted by others, the campground is a bit congested, but after the weekend crowd left, it was pleasant enough. They offer "free" wi-fi but it's extremely limited.to the point of being useless. You can purchase more data at $3/Gb but the download speed it throttled at 720 kbps. We didn't bother with it. We had excellent data connections on both T-Mobile and Verizon. The AT&T data from the OnStar wi-fi on the truck was not reliable.

This is a great location for paddling the Harpeth River too.

We had one of the older sites which doesn't have much shade during the day. I recommend getting one of the sites with full hook up as they are newer and appear to be more level. They also have full hookup while the site I occupied was electric and water only. It is however close to the shower house and next to the disabled sites. The shower house was clean and well kept. We were able to drive over to the Grand Ole Opry one night and enjoy the show. The drive back in the dark on a motorcycle though was a little challenging due to the roads here.

We arrived on Memorial Day around 4:00, and it was busy, but no one in the way, just lots of people enjoying their camping experience. Beautiful location in a deep lush forest with paved roads and level gravel sites. Our campsite was perfectly level gravel and backed up to a serene babbling brook. Campground was quiet by dark and quiet in the morning. If you can come off 70, do so, much shorter, straighter, easier route to the campground. Otherwise, coming from the entrance on 47 is more winding on tight roads with deep gutters just off the pavement. The spread of check out at noon, checkin at 4:00 is a bit extreme, since the ranger updated the site reservation tags at 9am, and they were cleaning bathrooms at the same time, not sure why they need 4 hours for turnover.
