This is not our kind of park, but even so, our stay was just fine--and if you have kids, they'd probably love it.

When we arrived, we were given several campsite options and offered a ride in a golf cart to check them out before deciding. We went for the cheapest one, at the still-outrageous price of $52.50/night. Still, we had an aspen rattling pleasantly outside our window, a pic-a-nic table outside our door, and an easy-to-navigate and nicely level back-in site with full hookups.

There isn't much in the way of amenities in Larkspur, so for all your shopping and RV repair needs, you'll be hitting the highway to visit Denver or Colorado Springs. The park has lots of activities for families and kids, as well as a restaurant that serves barbecue daily.

Watch out when you enter the park, as you'll cross over a railroad track without a warning arm.

pros - super friendly staff, tons of stuff for kids and very good bbq take-out. Lots of privacy on the FH 50 amp sites, decent size dog park and trails for walking them.

cons - expensive! (reserved a deluxe site for $47+tax/nt, which got me 30 amp electric only and then $66+ tax/nt for FH 50 amp super site and then $56+tax/nt for FH 50 amp site). Dirt roads kick up dust when kids drive by on golf carts, trains go by day and night next to the resort, challenge leveling rig. The FH 50 Deluxe sites are private but narrow. Too narrow for me to pull out my bikes from the rear of the RV, so certainly too narrow to extend the awning.

I would stay here again only when I need/want to stay north of the Springs, because the pros and cons still out perform the 1 other competitor.

You have to understand what you're getting into with Jellystone. It's basically a cruise ship for kids, with s'mores. We've stayed there twice: once in a "Boo-Boo Lodge" cabin and once in an RV.

The kiddos (ages 9 and 5) think it's absolute paradise. My husband could barely be coaxed out of the RV. For myself, the Mom, there's magic all over the place if I squint just a little.

Narrow sites, yes. Expensive (compared to the nearby national forests), yes. Traffic noise, yes. Communal fire rings, yes. Washed-out roads, yes.

But . . . it also feels safe as houses, with every amenity a grade-schooler could want: pool (in season), jumpy-castle, playground, outdoor jumping pillow, hiking trails, fishing pond, convenience store replete with candy and Yogi Bear souvenirs. Plus, on weekends, there is every activity a grade-schooler could want: a barn with animals to pet, hayrides, crafts, contests . . . all included or for a nominal ($1 to $5) fee. Plus, a giant Yogi and Boo-Boo wander around the grounds.

I realize this is not "camping," exactly. But it's sure an easy weekend: the "rangers" check you in, guide you up to your site, flag you in, and show you the hookups. Trash is picked up from your site. Bathrooms are clean (enough). Fellow campers are delightful. Dump station (free) and dumpsters are on-site and easy to access.

Sun RV Resorts bought Jellystone in Summer 2017. There are rumors of paving the campground, which would help with the deep washouts that hinder access to some sites. But I hope they don't change the cool vintage vibe that had this Mama hugging a giant stuffed Yogi Bear and the children begging to return just as soon as possible.

The entire resort has been renovated and it is incredible! We have kids ranging in age from 2-13 and they all loved it. 2 pools, water park, hot tub, miniature golf, jump pad, etc. The staff is definitely still trying to work out details and there was a bit of confusion still, but I’m sure they will get that figured out soon. We will definitely be back.

We stayed for 3 nights. Newly renovated resort. Sites are full hookups, gravel site with a concrete pad, picnic table, and gas fire pit. You will need your own propane tank to light the fire or rent one for a fee. Jellystone is right along I-25 and there is a train that runs right along the park. It can be a little loud at times but was bearable. There are 2 pools (main pool and one at the splash pad), splash pad/water park, 18 hole mini golf, fitness center, recreation center, 2 Large dog parks, play ground, restaurant and more. I docked a star because the park lost power for 5 hours in the middle of the day on a Saturday causing many of the amenities to close and it was 90° outside. During the week it was quiet and pools and amenities were enjoyable but during the weekend it was a bit of a mad house. There is still construction going on during the week, they are getting ready to add another 100+ sites and cabins. Hopefully they will add more amenities like another pool and hot tub to accommodate and handle the growth. We wish they had a hot tub that was designated for adults only. Kids would over run the only hot tub at all times of the day. Overall we had a great time and our kids had so much fun. We would stay again.

This was a great place to stay. They had so much to do for the kids. You will have to Google it to see otherwise my review would be multiple pages. The sites were great, we had a back in full hookup, the site had 20/30/50 amp service. The water pressure was over 65psi. The site was mostly level, had a table and a gas fire pit. Bring your own tank to use the pit. You can rent cabanas and golf carts, not really needed but was nice. the park might be close to the highway, but we heard very little road noise. There are some trains that go by a few times a day, the roar from those engines didn't bother us though. They do have wifi, and if you want to pay you can get faster wifi for streaming. It's just like most hotels logging into it. We are definitely going to be going there again. Yeah it's expensive but it was good for the kids

Stayed here over Labor Day weekend. Campground sits on side of a hill so sites tiered from top to bottom and very cramped. Full hookups including cable TV. Campground overlooks Highway (no noise) and two sets of train tracks (minimal noise). Kids paradise with two pools, water park structure, mini-golf, playground,
Lookout tower and multiple crafts and events scheduled every day. Live music every night. On property restaurant. Golf carts for rent to use throughout the park. Yogi Bear as the mascot makes sense because the bears come out at night. One ransacked the site across the road from us and the next night the park ranger warned us that five bears were onsite and they were busy shooing them away.

We stayed at Jellystone for a week when our generator was having issues - had intended to boondock but needed hookups. It's a very family-friendly campground. It was full to the brim Friday-Sunday afternoon, and absolutely barren the rest of the week - to the point that nobody is staffed at the front. It felt very ghost-town like during the week, but no complaints for what it was.

Mini golf was fun - didn't use the pool because there were a decent number of people there and didn't feel comfortable with social distancing. There are deer mingling outside every afternoon. Spaces are totally fine - more spacious than many RV parks we've stayed at. Bring your own 5 propane if you want to use their propane firepits which are at each space.

It's not really convenient to anything though. It's 30+ miles to Colorado Springs, about 35 minutes to Garden of the Gods, no restaurants near by (although apparently they have some here that open weekends as I understand it.) The sites are fairly level. There are two dog parks. It's not bad - it's just not...great. I think we're spoiled since we enjoy staying in the middle of nowhere, but this was "fine."

Noise - trains go DIRECTLY past the park a couple times a day and once a night. Freeway noise is still loud since the trees they've planted haven't been established yet. It's very new and under construction still. Our neighbors left on a Sunday morning and by Wednesday afternoon nobody had come around to pick up all the trash they left, so I eventually just did it myself because I didn't want it getting blown away. It is really really a stark and peculiar change between Saturday night and Monday morning. It feels...weird. Don't stay here if you don't like kids.

It's closed half the year - Oct through May.
