Took a drive through. Most sites are on grass. Mix of longer term and folks staying over night.

We found this gem because of Passport America. The Deer Creek RV park is secluded during their off season. The town usually has long term RV stays for the oil fields, but the oil field has dried up around here and the park remains secluded for the most part. There are deer, wild turkeys, geese and it's right next to the park. The camp has full hookups, showers and laundry (all which work great). The Wi-Fi is fantastic. They have a lot of dandelions, which I loved to look at, but something to be aware of if you have bad allergies. The people that maintain the park are super friendly and helpful. The town is so cute, and the restaurants were delicious! They also have a free dino museum in town which is worth a look. There is a natural bridge hike nearby as well.

Based on past reviews, I visited this campground on my way to South Dakota. There were only a couple of campers at the campground. Very neglected and buildings uncared, grass had not been mowed for quite awhile. Down tree limbs laid around the camp areas. The road around the campground had many pot holes and had not been taken care for awhile.I decided not to stay for the obvious reasons but I wanted to provide my observations

This was a once in a lifetime experience and the owners of this campground, Kendra and Jason, could not have been more hospitable, welcoming and generous. My party of 6 quickly grew to 17 of us and a sort of family reunion was born. Leading up to the event, Jason worked hard to trim tall grasses to accommodate the overflow of guests from neighboring states.

We were dry camping around the outer perimeter among the many RV people who brought their homes on wheels. With one exception, a monstrous RV with a huge generator in the bed of their pickup that they ran all day - from 7am to 10pm, this campground was just what we wanted. Simple, courteous, western, roughhewn and great people.

Other RVs appeared to have quiet, unnoticeable generators. In fact, when they ran out of gas for the generator, you could hear cheers from all sides of them. (Maybe I should have offered to pay the 50.00 difference for electric - 75 for hookups, 25 otherwise, but I think they had run out of hookup spots because of the nature of this one time event.)

The water in the shower was Hot! And held up well. Women would charge their cell phones while they got ready for day or cleaned off a days grime. There is no swimming pool, but there is a watering hole where two rivers meet. I did not walk down there myself, so this is second hand reporting.

Kendra and Jason arranged activities for families and a 1.00 "hay ride" on a truck into the town of Glenrock a mile away. They made food for those who didn't plan to cook.

We had an incident of ruliness among my group (chagrin) and they handled it well. (My apologies to our neighbors.)

The morning of the eclipse dawned and the entire camp seemed to be one in their excitement.

Many thanks to the owners. They are salt of the earth people.

And at the end of July 2018, I hear they run the camp on bare bones so everyone can participate in a five mile float down the river during a summer festival they have in GlenRock. Bring sunscreen....

I think it important that people be honest when reviewing campsites, and not base a rating on just how nice the management may be. In this case the management was nice and easy to deal with, which is important. However, this park is in need of a great deal of repair and maintenance and calling it 5 star is just not justified. I understand that times are hard in this area, but 5 star? No, 2 stars is well deserved just on the amount of items that have been neglected by management that could have been done in a few days that would have made things much nicer. In the rear of the park where it is unseen until too late, the trees have not been trimmed over the road and its impossible to avoid scraping the paint on any RV over 11' the damage will probably cost me well more than a week at a real RV resort.

The grass is only mowed in some areas and under my coach it was high enough to contact the body which invites all kinds of buggy visitors. The piles of old tires on the edge of the park is just not necessary unless your a city dweller and just can't stand to be too far away from a pile of worn old out tires. I suppose they could have been inventive and made a playground for the kids from them but for now there just piled up probably making a nice home for mosquitoes. The ruts and broken concrete in the parking space show a lack of care and presents a walking hazard to guests.

The park is partially filled with very old mobile homes and on several sites which no longer have homes on them the old trash is piled up as if moving day was yesterday and the tenants were pissed at the landlord. Does no one at the park see these things?

I do not believe things need to be fancy to be acceptable. But they must be cared for and maintained. This place could be a decent park, has some nice trees and its just off the road with a city park at its entrance. A small crew working for a few days could make this a 3 star place and with a bit of proper attention could be 4 star.

Pulled in late at night, a site was very hard to find in the dark. Payed $25 to stay but if I want to get a shower it’s another $7, if I want to use the dump station it’s another $7 on top of the other fees.
It was a fine place just to sleep but if you’re looking for cheap camping and a shower and a dump station this is not the place to stay.
