This little county park features a beautiful freshwater Spring, and quiet sites under a thick oak canopy for only $24 per night. We visited in early March and quickly found that ALL the area State Parks were booked up. The State Parks generally use an online reservation system while the County Parks (at least in Hillsborough County) are a first-come-first-serve setup.
We got in Thursday noon and there was about 12 of the 40 sites available. By Friday noon the campground was full. If you're looking for a spot midweek you shouldn't have a problem getting in but as the weekend approaches it seemed to fill up quick.
The sites are a mixed bag of sizes and each spot came with water and electrical. No black or gray dumping at any of the sites. There is a dump station on site. Each site also has a fire ring and picnic table. Both campground loops had bathhouses with clean restrooms and warm showers.
A great feature of this park is the Springs! The water remains a constant 72 degrees year-round and the water is clear with tons of fish. The campground also has access to the Alfia river for canoes, kayaks & SUP's. There is a great playground, volleyball nets and picnic pavilions.
Adjacent to the park are some amazing housing developments that feature a series of paved walking paths and long wooden boardwalk through the oak groves. One section of the trail has little nature kiosks periodically highlighting different nature facts. There is also large marshy sections below the path where you can view the herons fishing. Had a great longboard ride on the path and our 3year old had a blast riding on the trail with her strider!
NOTE: the park closes at 6pm and the front gate gets locked so don't come and try to check-in after hours. The road that approaches is long and narrow and if the gate is locked it would be a chore to get turned around. Once you get registered they issue you a combination to the gate to let yourself in and out.
Bottom line if you're in the Tampa area looking for a quite nature filled getaway Alfia Springs is a great option! We will be back again!

Sites are large and include water and electric but no sewage (I'm in a class B Rialta but even the larger RVs seem to fit nicely). The sites include picnic tables and fire pits, there are bathrooms and showers (2 of each in three different buildings). There are also open/public areas with grills, playgrounds and natural springs you can swim in. There is a creek for canoeing as well! It seems that the odd numbered spots around 30-47 are on the water but up a hill/drop off and have a nice little view.
The staff/rangers were nice and there is a security gate with a code for after hours admission - though I'm not sure if you have to check-in before they close. The spots are first come so try to show up early or on a weekday during high season. There is a common area to dump sewage.
It was very quiet and both my phone and internet worked well!

There are three parks in Hillsborough county that offer camping and this one is our favorite. It is perfectly located to everything Tampa has to offer and yet far enough away to feel tucked away from it all. Any full time or seasonal traveler will appreciate their no reservations - first come first serve policy. Arrive on a Sunday or early in the week and you are almost certain to get in. I would recommend calling the office the day before to check to see how many sites may become available. You can only arrive during business hours, though we've seen campers waiting to come in at 8:00 when the gate opens.
The sites are all well laid out, all with power and water and a dozen or so with 50 amp. None of the sites have sewer connections, though a dump station is available. Our 36' fifth wheel would fit comfortably in 20 or so of the 45 sites. When you arrive you'll be able to drive through and see the sites available and then stop back in the office and pick the site you like best.
When you are there you must experience a float down the Alafia River, which runs through the park. Here's a video we took going down the river. https://youtu.be/_NO4cpi02pw Bring your bikes too. They have a great bike/hike trail in the park as well as connect to the 20+ mile fishhawk preserve multi-path system. Bring your bathing suits too. You just have to take a dip in the clearest Florida spring, which the park is named for.

Beautiful! Sites are spacious, allow for two tents/two vehicles and include lighted hook up, fire pit, picnic table, and a gorgeous tree canopy overhead. Peaceful and easy to navigate. Spied raccoon and opossum on our night-walk.

This county park is one of three in the area and they are definitely used by the locals. We arrived around noon on a Friday and the park was full. The friendly staff treated us fairly and we got in the next morning with one of the three sites that vacated. With some changeover, the campground stayed full the entire 5 days we were there. I understand showing up at 8 am when they open the gate is your best bet for getting a site.
The campground is split up between two loops. Try for the sites on the river with site 45 being the best one we saw for privacy and views. Sites are electric/water only with dump on site and potable water. Two bathhouses with showers, nice enough. For a full campground it was very quiet.
Not many people enjoying the springs while we were there even though they are 72 degrees year round. It’s $2 per person to partake in the swim area. Very pretty, clear water. From first glance it looks like a big swimming pool.

Much of our experience here was due to the site; #45 is a spacious spot right on the river away from all the other sites. Full hook-ups and hot showers for $24 is a great deal. There's a playground for our little boy, but the park is lacking on any trails. It's an ok place to base for activities in the surrounding area; about an hour from everything. Couple little craft breweries and restaurants nearby as well.

Great county Park, close to stores, restaurants about an hour and 10 min to st Pete’s beach less than an hour from Tampa. The watering hole was closed due to COVID so the park was pretty quite. Walking trail at the park and a 10 mile drive to several parks with mtn biking, horse and walking trails. Very quite at night 3 bars Verizon cell svc max 30 day stay then out for 30 days. Showers, bathrooms, dump station and all sites have 110,30 and 50 amp. Will be back!

We stayed here the 6/3 thru 6/6. The campsites listed as having 50 amp power are mostly all very good deep lots. Ones particular that were somewhat short camps were 1, 17 and camp 41. Camp 37 is awfully tight with some tough turns and oak trees. Camp 45 is really good and deep. Camps 24 and 25 or nice pull through lots. The swimming Program here is kind of screwed up if you ask me. They let people swim from 9 to 1 for two dollars a person and then the afternoon time is 2 to 6. It seems it would be better to just let everyone pay five bucks and swim all day but they don’t do that. Bath houses could be kept up a little more with the toilet paper as I went in the early morning and there was none and several people were in dire need.
