This is one of the first places we stayed after we picked up our rig. We came in without a reservation. We stayed in early March and there were a dozen or so available sites at 6pm. We picked a pull-through without hookups. It was more like a turnout, but it was perfectly fine and long enough. I think there was a picnic table.
Lake Kaweah is very pretty, nestled in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada. It looks like the kind of place I'd have loved to visit as a kid on family trips. It looks a bit low now, but it looked plenty big for water sports and fishing. We were just staying overnight so we didn't explore the lake or surrounding area.
Verizon cell coverage was either terrible or non-existent.

Campsites have a good amount of room between them, which is both a good thing and a bad thing. Though you're not too close to your neighbors, it seems like each site has multiple tents, a few cars, and a dozen people and kids. And a radio. That said, it was also Labor Day weekend, so there were a lot of families around.
Also, very pretty landscape, but you can hear highway traffic nearby through the night. Though it's not too bad, it reminds you that you're not fully in nature.
I would say that it wasn't the most peaceful of campgrounds I've visited, but it was definitely very family-forward and good for groups. Don't regret staying at all, but I don't think I'd come back during another long weekend.

Lots of issues bring a 42 ft fiver here. The entrance off highway is very steep and narrow. Roads in Campground are narrow and not big rig nice. Dump station and headquarters are at top of a VERY steep grade. Lots of dragging and tires off the road.

Nice campground...but don't plan on coming here in the late spring/early summer. As the lake level rises the sites slowly disappear until all that are left are a few walk-in sites. We stayed here in mid-April and had to move to higher ground midway through our stay. The camp host told us that by mid-summer the water recedes and the sites reappear. Aside from the watery sites, we liked the location and enjoyed the lake view.

We rocked up early and checked ourselves in without issue.
A lot of the spots seem awkward to back a trailer into so be wary when booking online. We had our pick as it was low season and found spot 58 which was an easy pull through.
The more awkward spots were in the higher camp sites.
Each spot comes with table and fire ring. Basic toilet and shower facilities, nothing to write home about but they function just fine.

This campground is great for scenery and location, but a bit below our COE expectations. Many sites were quite steep and hard to level and the shower house is dated. The majority of sites are nice and large with a nice view iof the lake. Also, it’s right on CA 198 so road noise is incessant, but the Verizon signal is pretty good. Overall, we find this campground just average, but okay for a couple nights.

There is no one at the reception area, yet we called to see if we could switch spaces. We were originally at site 16 (which is on a hill and not big enough for my 16’x16’ tent) So we got the okay to move to site 50. At around 9pm the ranger came and gave us a hard time about switching spaces even though we had the okay from the main office. The bathrooms were dirty and the portapottys had mouse poop all over them. I wouldn’t use the shower; I’d rather be dirty the showers were so bad. There is no one there patrolling the area so you just have to pray no one comes in and steals your stuff while you go fishing or go sight seeing up in the sequoias. Also the 1 guy that is like the maintence man, came up to use and asked us to make sure our kids do not kill the trees growing. My kids were just sitting at the table they are very well behaved and listen well. He also smelled of alcohol. I wouldn’t stay here again, I’d rather sleep in my car!

I stayed here with my Girlfriend for two nights while we explored Sequoia.
Pros: only 30 to 40 min to Sequoia NP, cheap, free showers, decent bathrooms, easy to get to, picnic table and fire pit, good camp hosts.
Cons: Cell service is spotty, little to no shade, lake is farther than you think, long line for the bathrooms and showers, sites are not very level.
Probably not always this way, but the crowd that was camping around us seemed to be the younger type, those looking to party and inexperienced campers in general. What I mean by that were people playing their music for the whole campground to hear and people setting up their tents at 9 pm using their high beams in the dark. Good thing the host came around to to quiet everything down around 10 pm.

No electric so if it’s hot you need a generator. It is only about 20 miles to Sequoia national Park and 20 miles to Visalia for shopping and laundry. It had a dump station and the showers were ok. There are not a lot of shade trees. We were there five through 10 May 2021. On the weekend it was totally full on the weekdays maybe 10 campers. It is an Army Corps of Engineers campground so the old person passed gets half off camping.

Close to Sequoia National Park, which is the only reason I could see paying $20 a night. The scenery was beautiful, but for $20 I would hope for a little more. I would struggle to call this big rig friendly because of the steep driveway and winding campground layout. The spots are paved but not many of them are level. There is a dump station here and community water spigots. You would need a water bandit if you wanted to fill your RV or just bring your jugs.
