We've been returning to Sequoia every June for the past ten years to drop our kids off at Hume Lake. We always spend a few nights before heading off to other places. Out of all the campgrounds in the Kings Canyon/Sequoia part of the park, this one is the best!
Small number of sites, spread out, area for tent or trailer, and close to store, gas, and exploring the rest of the park.

We chose this place after seeing that most of the National Campgrounds were full. We were so glad we did.
The drive into the spot was a bit bumpy, but not a big deal. The camp host was very friendly. And, when we were done setting up camp, we were pleased with a wide open space behind our campsite. We could sit at the campsite and let the kids play freely among the felled trees and a small hill with dappled sunlight.
It was perfect for a family with energetic kids.
The location was also close enough to drive to most things we wanted to see.
There was a well stocked store less than a mile up the road. The store also had showers and laundry if you are fine with paying extra. I think the showers were around $4 per token (around 5 minutes).
A hike along the creek was nice. And there's a good hiking trail near the walk-in camping if you are interested.
