Well there is Wi-Fi at the ranger station and the adult lounge there is no cable at any hookup site. The trails are hard to find and poorly marked. The grill was rusted out and. The picnic table is probably original from the construction. The bathrooms and shower are nice but in general it needs some $$$$ and tlc.

What's not to love about this campground? It's a massive 408 acres which means lots of sites, lots of walking and hiking trails, access to the lake, and many, many games and amenities.
The lodge is beautiful and well cared for and is right upstairs from the billiard and ping pong room and gym.
Although the Wifi is not very fast and definitely needs to be improved, we were here off season so we were able to get some work done.
We loved how friendly and helpful the staff was and the Thanksgiving Potluck was to die for. The sites are tucked into the forest with lots of space and privacy. We loved the dog run and how close this campground was to the town and grocery shopping.
We reserved for four days but extended our stay to two weeks. We would stay here again in a heartbeat.

We stayed at Lake Whitney in March of 2019. We paid nothing because we are Thousand Trails members. We found the check-in process clear and easy, the staff member that checked us in was very friendly and informative. We unhooked our car to drive around and chose our campsite. A number of sites were unavailable because they are being upgraded. But we had no problem finding a great site.
Because it was spring break for Texas parks, there were a lot of families camping. There were also a lot of activities to choose from. The staff did a great job offering a wide variety of fun things for all ages.
The facilities are older, but in really good shape. The laundry room was very clean and all the machines were in working order. In the same building there is a really nice game room, a small workout room and outdoor seating areas. The top floor of the building is the lodge. It used to be an adult only area, and my one complaint would be that it is now open to kids. But I'm sure when the park is less populated it is not so rowdy in there.
The pools were not yet open, but we looked at them and they are beautiful and clean. There is a very nice playground and putt-putt golf course as well as a giant checkers board and connect four game.
We were very pleased with this campground and hope to return for another visit!

Fairly large typical TT cg. Paved roads are nice and treed sites. Was hard to find a spot where I could get satellite reception. 30 amp electric only. Very quiet and friendly staff. Good communication as they will text you if there are any issues in the park.
Seemed to be quite a few annuals that are living there FT with quite a bit of "stuff".
Waco was an hour drive and a fun town. Whitney is close and has a few restaurants and a grocery store.
Verizon service was good TMobile not at all.

Sprawling campground with several loops and lots of sites. I chose the A loop and it was quiet which was what I wanted. And I used it to visit Dallas which was a little under an hour away.
A huge downside for me was that I had a dodgy power pedestal. Cutting out regularly and unable to be fixed so I was asked to just move to another site at night... No offer of an extension lead and taking power from another pedestal. I stayed and purchased an extension lead myself.
The 50 amp pedestals seem more reliable than some of the 30s but YMMV...
The road around the campground could do with a little filling in as it had some really decent potholes that require a low 15mph speed and 5mph within the loops.
Wifi was weak but at least it had some even if at a small cost. Good communication as I was texted when issues in the park and when gate code changed.
Overall it is fine. But dodgy electrics can fry an expensive surge protector or even worst an expensive trailer!

Price reflects pre-paid rate, as we are are TT zone pass holders. This was a nice TT. The sites were decently-sized and staff seemed to be really nice/communication good. They hold activities for families every now and then as well (none occurred while we were there, but we were informed about them). The biggest issue for us was the cell service, which was surprising. We had about 2-3 bars (Verizon), but it was still incredibly slow, which made it very difficult for us to work (we are full-timers). But apart from that, it was a very good experience. We'd stay here again if coming back through the area as long as we had a cell booster.

The property is beautiful with lots of shaded spots. Sites are large and spaced out well That is the good.
The bad:
The internet (paid) is up and down, and down more than up. We are leaving 5 days into our 14 day reservation because I cannot work with the internet 100% down all day. The WiFi equipment looks new but I guess they don't maintain it. The phone support company knew who I was by the third day here. Calls were answered but reports of "the entire loop is down" and "the entire park is down" were given to me. The system uses the power from the RV sites and I guess if someone leaves and flips that "extra" breaker in the box off they can take out a large area of the park.
50 amp sites are first come first serve. There are a lot of sites (dozens and dozens) that are out of service. To find a 50 amp site that also has sewer is on the rare side. Entire loops are out of service. The old 30 amp box was left in place with the new 50 amp box behind it, kind of an eyesore.
The roads are in horrible shape. Potholes everywhere. The 5mph speed limit is all about not breaking your vehicle. Our site (the only one with 50 amp and sewer when we got here) is so unlevel the jacks could not even us out without putting the front wheels in the air.
This is in the middle of COVID issue and everything is closed. I have been in a couple of Encore sites and they had a much more reasonable (and safe) approach to what was closed down.

Large campground with 5 miles of hiking/biking trails. Main road is full of potholes so make sure to drive slowly. We chose full hookup back-in site B65 due to the excellent tree shade. Unfortunately the site was low in the front so it was difficult to level our class A motorhome. B section bathrooms were clean. On a positive note, we were able to program 40+ over the air TV channels. Sadly our AT&T and T-Mobile phones had zero reception at the site and the AT&T phone barely got 1 bar at the lodge/laundry room area. The lodge supposedly had free wifi but we couldn't get it to work. Excellent laundry room with well maintained machines. The price was a bargain at $2.00 per load and only credit cards are accepted. Paid wifi is available but we did not try it. All amenities except the pool were closed due to Covid-19.

The park is nice overall. However, the road leading into the RV sites was like a never ending set of railroad tracks. The number of potholes was overwhelming and jarring for people with back issues. The RV sites were ok. There were downed trees around us and overgrowth into the actual site, which also needed some upkeep as it was eroding in the back. The other thing was on the website we requested a 50 amp space and were told our balance was zero because we have Thousand Trails and Encore. When we got there we were told after we were parked in our space there was an upgrade fee. That should be put on the site prior to arrival so we were aware. I've not had any other Thousand Trails park or Encore park ever charge me an upgrade fee before just because I needed a 50 amp space. They couldn't explain to me why they charged the upgrade fee either which I thought was odd. It's also worth noting that a lot of spaces are STILL OUT OF SERVICE. In lookin back at some of the other reviews this looks like it's been an ongoing problem for a couple of years. The Wi-Fi for a week was $14.95 and it was down more than up. I'd recommend bringing your own hotspot. What we did like was the natural beauty and the separation between guests. That was nice compared to some of the other parks where they pack you in like sardines.
