Lake Arrowhead State Park

We camped here in April, 2015 in a 35 foot fifth wheel. The rate shown does not include the daily per person park entry fee.

We had reservations and when we arrived the park was almost empty. The campground is arranged with several camping loops. The ranger that checked us in was really friendly and told us which loops would be best for our size rig. Because the park was almost empty she told us to pick a site and call her back with the site number. Most of the sites are back in but we found a large pull through with paved pad, water and electric hookups, a large grass sitting area, a covered picnic table and fire ring. There was only one other camper in the loop and we felt like we had the entire park to ourselves.

There was a bath house close by, several picnic areas, pavilions, a disc golf course, and hiking trails in the park. The park was clean and well maintained with the grass freshly mowed. We were entertained by the prairie dogs located in another section of the park and also enjoyed seeing the working oil pump in the campground.

The state park is located a short drive from Wichita Falls where there is a Walmart, other shopping and restaurants.

If your travels take you to Wichita Falls I highly recommend this state park.

Trees are mostly mesquite with long thorns. I rated the park 5 stars on all given criteria but I would not plan on coming back. Looking out our window and going for walks we saw several field mice running across the road from high grass.

I had a car that had all the wires in the engine compartment chewed up by mice. I finally considered it totalled. Mice can easily get into motorhomes and do a lot of damage. Although it is a very nice state park, well maintained, friendly staff, and beautiful lake, it is not worth getting mice.

Pulled in at 5 pm. The lady said you have to have a reservation on line. Spent 30 mins trying online. Couldn’t get it to work. Lady said let me call a ranger and he can help. Ranger and lady spent about 30 minutes trying to make it work form their site. We took a back in site for our 30 foot 5th wheel, the electric plug in was almost 50 feet from the camper. If everything was ok, it would probably be ok.

1 Shower house for the large campground. It was clean. Airport nearby. was suitable for overnight.

Lots of sites, clean campground close to a good sized lake. Nice place for an overnight stay.

Very frustrating to use reserve america to register online. Several attempts to enter requested information failed. Finally got the right screens with info to book a site. Driving around the park to find an open site every site was marked R for reserved except one. One site out of 48 was marked A midweek. Go figure. Last year booked a site in New Mexico with reserve america. $160 for a week. Host at the campground could not find my reservation. R A appears to be very flaky. My advice is drive on. This site is near relative on the lake otherwise i would have driven on. So frustrated with the booking process.

Our family stayed here for 2 nights and wished we could've spent another week here! There was so much to do. The sites are level and paved with really nice mowed lawns. Super well maintained trail systems made it convenient to access the lake and other amenities. We loved seeing the wildflowers and butterflies! Would love to stay again in the future!

I’ve stayed here several times in the past and now find that the State of Texas has paved the roads throughout and put down new RV pads. No leveling necessary. They have circles of six RV Sites and on many of them the first site to the right of the entrance is a pull through.

FINALLY, a well-designed campground! After being in so many cg's designed by an idiot who had never camped, it was a pleasure to find a well designed one. The pads are LEVEL concrete mostly laid out in circles making each space easy to back into with lots of privacy with thick undergrowth between. There are a few pull-thrus for the backing challenged. As we were only staying one night, we didn't even have to unhook. Lots of trails to hike on.

We were just looking for a place to stay while traveling and read the reviews here. We agree with the positive reviews and saw nothing negative. Easy after hours check-in. The bathrooms were clean and warm. We do need to comment this is Texas and the park is in oil country and there is an active well in the campground. It is s steady noise that did not bother us. We’d definitely stay again and would like to stay a full day to see all this park has to offer.
