We stopped at the office upon arrival and were told to pick an open site and return to office to pay camp fee. The staff was friendly and provided recommendations for a great nearby restaurant, El Campita. The campground is also 5 minutes away from a Camping World.

The gravel pads were fairly level and easy to back in. Many of the campers had their sites decorated for Halloween. If we were not on a bee line on this trip, it would have been an nice park to stay for a while.

It is a first come first serve campground, but when we arrived on a Sunday they had lots of open spots available. The price is very good for full hookups.

We really enjoyed our stay at French Creek State Park. It is adjacent to Hopewell Furnace National Historic Site and near the National Road (Cumberland Road). It was very convenient to the Pennsylvania Turnpike.

While the sites were will spaced, providing privacy, our site C35, was difficult to back in and tree prevent the use of our awning. Each loop had a group of sites near the start of the loop offering full hookups with grassy areas between the sites. Farther down the loops are electric only sites nestled in the trees. We prefer the more wooded campsites even though it means fewer hookups. A convienant water fill station and dump station is located at the entrance to the campground.

We look forward to coming back to this state park. We had a great experience here from the time we checked in to the moment we left. On arrival mid-week we found the gatehouse unoccupied but found ample parking for the campground office/store near the entrance. The staff at the office were very friendly. At the time of our stay the park is transitioning to site specific reservations. By the 2022 season all sites will be reservable by site number. When we made our reservation this was not the case. We were told to drive through the campground loops and choose any site with a white post that was unoccupied. We found several sites that would work well for us.

Restroom buildings with individual shower rooms were dispersed throughout the campground loops. A camp store open Friday-Sunday was centrally located and a camper laundry facility was next door. Volunteers for the state park offer firewood at several locations for $5.00 (on an honor system) for a five gallon bucket full. A playground was located near the camp store and it stayed very busy with young campers all weekend.

Our favorite activity was to visit the CCC Museum to learn more about the development of the park and the young men who went to work during the depression to help support their families back home. The museum was well done with many artifacts from this time and located in a CCC constructed building (one of hundreds still existing in the park).

Many bike trails crisscross the state park and if weather had been better during our stay we would have enjoyed them more. We now have a good reason to come back soon.

This was a bucket list location for us and it delivered. Site 23 offered shelter from the coastal winds but easy access to the beach. This stretch of beach was gorgeous and with only campers using it so we had it to ourselves most of the time.

Many reviews and information from the NPS warned of mosquitos, but we did not notice mosiquitos. One of our neighbors started a fire at their campsite one morning. The smoke from the fire apparently will draw the wild horses in if they are being pestered by flies. This can be a nuisance if you are trying to cook a meal at your campsite.

Besides the wild horses, we enjoyed watching the other wildlife at the seashore. Pelicans and gulls were numerous. We caught a glimpse of a bald eagle soaring over the coast. During our stay the Monarch butterflies were on their fall migration and were plentiful among the flowers blooming on the dunes.

We really enjoyed the bike lanes throughout the park. Even the bridge to the island has a protected bike/pedestrian lane.

Most of the sites were quite open with little to no privacy, but with site 23 we felt like we had our own beach front hideaway.

We enjoyed the remote location of this campground in Queen Anne County Maryland. Our rate was based on the Maryland Golden Age Pass which is free to those over 65 years of age. The campground was well maintained. Restroom buildings were located in the center of the campground loop with access trails leading to them. The showers had ample hot water and were clean.

Lots of trails for hiking trails throughout the park. We also enjoyed riding bikes on the local roads to access other areas of the state park. We were there on a Monday and Tuesday in October and there was good availability of sites unoccupied. It was a great time of year to visit.
